Everton Summer transfers 2021

Not normally one for defending the club of late, but you're wrong in this instance. City made their intentions clear early doors and Villa had decided to sell and use the money to rebuild. Everton had no plans to sell Richy and this Mbappe thing came as a shot out of the blue late in the window.

Anyway PSG want to hold onto Mbappe, who is also available for free next year, so none of this may happen anyway
We also had not planned on Ancelotti going either by all accounts.
However with Richarlison, there was always surely going to be a point where a club came in for him.

Don’t know where this chap rates on the wham-o-meter but….

I don’t get this. Richy is under contacted for three more years. It’s such late in the window there won’t be any decent replacements with fair fees. If that French club lose their player to Real that is is their problem. Remember they want a 50p loan for Kean there is no need to do them favour.

I think there is, Vlasic, Lookman now Kean, fans are being managed, players painted as trouble, not happy don’t want to be here in the media and we lap it up - there is a trend here 1. Lads get frustrated with a lack of development, 2 We don’t develop them, 3. Fans turn on them, we sell them and continue to post massive losses. We’re building nothing. We have no strategy, we’re developing nothing, we’re signing stiffs like Townsend. There is a trend to all of the above. There is only so many times you can blame the player. The other common dominator is the club and those involved in the footballing dept and development.

Our adverse financial position isn’t due to Covid, if there was no Covid we wouldn’t be brewstered we are were we are because of a series of bad decisions like this Kean deal. If you think it’s down to Covid you are fooling yourself.

Keans book price was 28 mill, he’s currently at 16.5. Compared to our losses and his wages vs the cost and wages of a replacement, say Maupay at a very kind 20 mill and wages of 4.5 annually (what Iwobi is on), then it’s still adverse financially and adds to our losses.

Stupid.

You really think that Kean is happy to stay? He literally put on social media at the end of last season that he hoped to go back to PSG this season. I agree we like to paint the players as the bad guys, but this is one of the more obvious examples.

Our own financial position, I agree, isnt down in a huge part to Covid, although there's a small element of it. Across the game though, there are big revenue holes for a lot of clubs caused by covid. Over in Spain the likes of Madrid and Barca usually buy big and cause a trickle down effect for the market. They're both skint (again not totally covid-linked) and again everyone else is affected (although this Mbappe thing might change it a bit). No, we can't blame covid for our problems, but surely you'd accept that the financial conditions across Europe are not what they were a couple of years ago?

On the financial aspect, we paid €27.5m for Kean (or £23.5m at the time) plus €2.5m in add ons (a little over £2m), it's hard to believe we've paid much in the way of add-ons, but let's say we've paid £25m in total to be generous. In real terms, this deal gives us our money back. His book value is currently £15m. Loaning him out means we have to eat the amortisation costs this season (assuming the permanent deal doesn't become official until after 30th June), but the loan fee may offset this - we don't know. We also get his wages off the books. In simplistic "net spend" terms, it's neutral. On the accounts we will either book a £10m profit this season or a £15m profit next season, depending on the structure. It isn't anything like as bad as people are suggesting.

It's going to be Saint maximum as Richy replacement ?

I wouldn't hate that, but I just hope we don't massively overpay for him, that's my worry that because we get say £80m for Richarlison, we then have to pay Newcastle £60m for Saint maximan.

Personally I think we need the Richarlison to bring in 3 players, LW, AMC and RB

I don’t think we should sell at this stage but who knows what has been agreed between the player and the club? Everton will have a valuation and they could well have promised Richarlison that if a club matches that valuation they won’t stop him leaving.

I would have zero faith in us buying well if we do sell him though.
