This. Also I think we’ll see lots of loan-to-buy deals to circumvent FFP and its equivalents. Ronaldo was a huge cash drain on Juve so they’ve likely got to ride out the next couple of years to cycle off losses that they can’t afford to add to.

The lack of viable alternatives (the club clearly feels keeping the player wouldn’t be productive) means our bargaining position isn’t great.

Atalanta have improved relative to Juventus, odd if they consider loaning to a rival.

Would have been easier for them presumably to offer him to us, and get him out of Serie A.

That said, the player may have no interest in coming here and putting a deal together may not have been possible anyway.

Kulusevski would be a great option for us though.
