That was a really dumb buy tho. He was literally nothing like the standard of PL player should be. He wasn't fast, he didn't have a great passing range, he didn't attack the ball when we didn't have it, his main selling point was that he scored goals because he was usually the 2nd or 3rd player in the box and, really, when do we EVER have 3 people in the box at once until the 85th minute??
Probably just generic platitudes when he was signing his first pro deal but sure I remember reading what a model pro he was and the progress he was making, etc.

That must knock about £350k a week off the wage bill, it would be nice if we could sign 3 or 4 players, who actually play, with that sort of money.

And to think we still have Toshun, Soggy, Benard and Delph on the books - so much tosh add in Gbamin will be in and out of the treatment room for the next 3 years of his contract as well.
Including U23s there’s probably £60m+ in transfer fees spent on the players released and the maddest thing of all is, with the possible exception of King, their release won’t make a blind bit of difference to our match day squad.

Yes it must be close to 15mil with Carlo and all his staff going. And I’m sure the club will be looking to offload some more big earners, Delph, Bernard, Gomes. Add kean’s wages and you could be looking at 50mil.
Obviously we will be paying a new manger and his team, plus new players. But we could be 20mil better of in wages next season

Which is why I always think it's absolute madness you see us giving players new 5 year contracts a year in to a 5 year contract ffs. We did it with Besic for some inexplicable reason, we do it all the time.
