Yep 100%.

Now there is always the caveat of players coming from holland. Kezman was an absolute monster, and Kuyt was top goalscorer. Janssen just looks different, some of his finishes are so clean.

You never know from that league - Id take a punt on him though.

Was reading last night that he wants Mata.... As a playmaker i would take him in a heart beat - though he doesn't suit the wide role as much as a free roamer.

he's terrible out wide tbh, well would leave a gaping hole in front of the left back. This has been his problem at united, he can only really play in that centre attacking mid slot - not a formation we really played with last season. I would love an attacking midfield three of mccarthy alongside barkley with mata in front with two wingers ... we'd outscore most teams in the league, go a bit tighter in the bigger games though.

Then again soton were knocking 4's past arsenal and man city, so leave it to the boss ha.

Totally agree .

Played in his right position he would be fantastic , a heartbeat for the team.

Barkley would either have to be sacrificed or played deeper.

I'm not too happy with the thought of giving gifts to the Gods and not sure he has the fitness and mentality to be the box to box midfielder that we need.

Down to Koeman to knock that into him, apparently he is a fitness task master so the squad will get a shock and whipped into shape. Am sure that Barkley will have no hesitation to looking at Koeman and listening to him - what he achieved in the game is a different universe to Martinez.

I think Koeman will be really good for Barkley.

I once spoke to someone who said he was the next Van Nistelrooy... I think he has more about his game then he did, as in he gets about more, RVN was just an absolute beast in the box and could score any time the ball came to him - but i think Janssen has a little more about him.

RVN was way way faster at the same age, lost a fair bit of pace IMO after he popped his knee pre move to United

Mata is one of those players that is that good he suffers for it because managers consistantly play him out of position because he can do that and still play well, given a free role roaming as you say then their isn't much better in the world at that

when he first came through RVN looked the second coming of Van Basten, never reached that height IMO because of that knee injury but like a few others (SHearer) etc his natural instincts meant he was still able to overcome losing a fair bit of pace post injury
 
Scores a few goals in the Dutch league and now he's the new RVN worth £25m some of you lot need to remember the Dutch league and people like Alves, Finnbogason etc. who've done the same and not turned out good. The age of YouTube highlight videos is ruining scouting. I think he needs to show he can do it at least another year in that league before you start throwing a quarter of our budget at him.

If you actually took the time to read my post I said that if we got £65m for Lukaku then I would spend £25m on Janssen.

You are right it is a risk but as the RS found out with Goofy buying strikers from Holland can be a risk that pays off ( especially when you have already made a killing in selling a player ).

Not really sure you can compare Suarez here to Janssen since he did it consistently over there for 2 teams and was always miles above everyone else. Janssen from the clips looks a decent finisher against horrendous opposition. I wonder how many on this forum have seen him play 90 minutes before in the Dutch league. Most I've seen is vs England and he didn't catch my attention.
