Everton Transfer Thread 2016

Scores a few goals in the Dutch league and now he's the new RVN worth £25m some of you lot need to remember the Dutch league and people like Alves, Finnbogason etc. who've done the same and not turned out good. The age of YouTube highlight videos is ruining scouting. I think he needs to show he can do it at least another year in that league before you start throwing a quarter of our budget at him.

Thing is though mate, another year he will have likely already have had his move from his current team and rather than say 15m you'd be loking at 25-30 IF available at all, have to assume that the new manager doesn't just rely on youtube clips and knows a lot more about if the player is ready if he does want him.

Alves is a oft quoted one though, but doesn't fit the mould - he was already 26 when Boro bought him and had bounced around joke leagues like the sqizz one before one god season in Holland - much better comparision with him would be Naisse sadly.

Finnbagoson i think was 25 as well

The best strikers from Holland don't tend to stay playing in that country at that age if they are good enough (think RVN is an exception due to his knee injury putting his united transfer back a year and a bit)

Not really sure you can compare Suarez here to Janssen since he did it consistently over there for 2 teams and was always miles above everyone else. Janssen from the clips looks a decent finisher against horrendous opposition. I wonder how many on this forum have seen him play 90 minutes before in the Dutch league. Most I've seen is vs England and he didn't catch my attention.

Hmmm, was that the game against England that he scored and knocked Jagielka on his ares before putting in the assist for the second mate?

scoring and an assist in a 2-1 win didn't catch your attention?

To me it's just too big of a risk for the prices people here are saying they'd be happy to spend. Mitrovic was a similar punt and whilst I think he'll turn out great, this season he wasn't. £8-12m is the kind of money I'd spend on a punt not £20m.

Yes I remember the game; scored a penalty and passed for Narsingh. Doesn't mean he impressed against poor English defenders. Compared to some of the names people have said upfront he's the biggest risk at £20m+ by a mile.

Aye mate but if your talking about Rom being 100% off - which looks likely, then your loking at 65m or so to find a replacment without dipping into any transfer budget we have on top of sales (100m or so quoted will have to be seen to be believed though)

we won't be spending that on a 65m replacement obviously, so then becomes how would it be best spent, a proven player in this league is a must, someone whose done it for a good few years already (Giroud etc), still leave you with 45m or so to bring in competition and depth, Janssen for 15-20m, and your left with 25-30m to either bring in another proven striker, take another chance with a highly touted player from another league, or to bring in the likes of a Mitrovic and use the rest elsewhere in the squad

Ofc if Lukaku stays then the situation becomes a lot different as we need to use whatever we have to bring in a player who can push him

Yeh I'm not saying don't go for him of course - I mean no one really knows our budget anyway - but caution should be have. A lot of posters in this forum are stuck with their head in the clouds, like a kid in a sweet shop with the new money. If we start spanking money around on everything we'll just have a team that can't play together. Some targets quoted here are sound, some are pipe dreams & some (Janssen) are people playing FIFA too much.

Only really looked at Janssen myself after reading a few older articles saying Koeman was someone who rated him highly and was monitoring his progress myself mate, chances are Koeman WILL dip[ into the Dutch market as he has a track record for doing so, so he is a decent likely target to go for - as is Ziyech for example who replaced Tadic for his club and has been outstanding in a terrible side

Without knowing how much we have and who is going to be sold though all we can do is guess really, christ If Monchi for example comes in rather than say overmars as a DoF that will instantly turn absoltuely everything on its head a sfar as potential targets and who we are looking at as well.

Anywone saying yeah buy Janssen and the ajax striker and we are soudn to go though is playing fifa to much i agree, we firstly need to sort out experience in this league as a priority (why i'd love Giroud if Arsenal do bring in replacements for him and let him go, and Hart (but not for 40m like))

We just bring in young players with potnetial completely new t the league and spend 100-150m on those then can easily end up a Newcastle like situation

An article on Monchi (Guardian I think) quoted him saying he had a spreadsheet with like 250 names for each position tailored to Sevilla's needs so guessing who we might sign under him would turn into an elaborate drinking game.

One plus point that I pointed out earlier today with buying Dutch players and some like Ziyech = no Euros for them so they'll be fresh and get a full pre-season in England. They can also speak English and won't need work permits.

I pretty much agree with this guy, im all for getting the next big thing or going for a highly rated player, but we need to be careful it wont bite us on the bum

2 years ago the belgian league had to young strikers banging goals in everywere, Mitrovic & Batsuayi! Mitrovic has shown some glimses of being a good player but also shown plenty of signs of not being that top standard forward we need.
I bet alot of people on here were calling for us to go and get Mitrovic 2 years ago

Aye Monchi does sound like a bit mental like, just going to be enjoyabvle this summer seeing who we actually go for, especially so if the rumours are correct that we want to make a couple of statement type signings

It's all about the balance mate, get some experienced in this league at the best level in, get the talented players from abroad around those, normally we don't have the luxry (or the finances) to do both, but maybe this year we finally do

We are a long long way way from being able to spunk United/Chelsea/City like money on 'punts' from abroad - but at least now we have the ability to bring in proven players and make a few well calculated buys from abroad as well

Best time to take a punt is when you have the position already covered to a degree by a good quality player

I really think they should consider Wilfried Bony. I know he's been a bit gash at City, but he scored 1 in 2 for Swansea and he's still only 27. He can control a footy better than Lukaku too.

Scott Dann would be an excellent signing. How anyone could watch football and not think he would improve us at the back is beyond me.

I would be seriously impressed if he was our first signing under this regime, in terms of what we actually need rather then a big high profile name.

Says he is 27, atleast 31 i reckon.
I also reckon Lukaku is 26 at least

While i also agree with this, Dann is very similar to Fonte at southampton, who complimented Van Dijk really well, so Dann would compliment Stones or Funes Mori very well.
That would be 4 centre backs who would epect to be first choice
