While i also agree with this, Dann is very similar to Fonte at southampton, who complimented Van Dijk really well, so Dann would compliment Stones or Funes Mori very well.
That would be 4 centre backs who would epect to be first choice

The team clearly needs leadership and the defense clearly needs an organiser, as much as i rate Stones and Fumes Mori - they are young in PL terms and need to grow and develop, while a period of bad form needs to be accounted for. For me Jag's injury last season was the start of our poor run of form, we need another senior centre back. Jags is also touching 34 and will be by the start of the new season.

Dann is a very savy signing his last two seasons have been the best of his career has been one of the best centre backs in the league over that time, its absolute madness hes not at the Euros given what England have taken.

Id buy him for his leadership and the fact we need a bit of steel at the back but he is actually a very good player, have rated him highly ever since he was at Brum.

He was quality at Birmingham with Roger Johnson at the back, were they played very deep.
He struggled abit more at blackburn because they played a high line and he got caught out a fair bit for pace, think he struggled with injurys a little too.
His move to Palace and playing under Pulis & Pardew revereted him going into a defence that played deep and left no space in behind him which plays to his strengths.
Would we have to play a deep back four if we got him in?

In some ways hes the perfect partner for Stones and Fumes Mori, if they break forward he will always play deep and be the anchor, that and we are likely to have Baines and Coleman bombing on. So we need a defender with PL savy who can cover the space and sweep.

An option we have never explored is pushing Stones into midfield, either in starting a game or during a game - he was magnificant in that role - really looked world class there in the semi final. With miles in Barrys legs its something i hope the Koemanator explores.

So you are saying if 1 of our centre backs pulls out of defence and our full backs go bombing on you would leave scott dann, who has plenty of good atributes but pace is not one of them, left deep to cover and sweep up.
Defensive lines need to be defensive lines, they ALL either play high, medium or deep! You cant have them all just picking which one they want, the defence would get pulled everywere

This is a terrible idea tactically; our full-back's are always forwards and Stones always wants to go forwards; you can't leave someone as slow as Dann alone at the back. Dann works best with a similar CB next to him. We need someone who can do both (Thiago Silva mould) steel and finesse.

Leadership
organization
heading
acceleration
tackling
passing

= Kostas Manolas.

Not if you play with one or two deep midfield players who sweep, obviously all three wouldnt be going forward at the same time but that almost goes without saying i would have thought.

Surely we should be looking to massively upgrade rather than get a comparable or worse player than jagielka?
I rate them both mate. Plus Rome wasnt built in a day.
With either of those purchases you're getting dependable, seasoned PL centre backs. To complement, you've got one of Funes Mori, Stones and Pennington together with Jagielka.
We'd win more headers, that's for sure.
