If he goes dutch i think we will be looking at:

Riedewald
Bazoer
El Ghazi
Milik
Janssen

This talk of Scott Dann is strange as hes not as good as Jagielka and we should be looking to sign upgrades rather than same level or weaker players.

Weve got 3 centre backs(4 incl pennington) and should aim for a superstar as clear 1st choice...

Id have thought both were covered by organization.

Him or Scott Dann...

One is one of the top defenders in Europe and the other isnt as good as Jagielka...we shouldnt buy inferior squd players.

But they do which is the problem in modern day football; full-backs are converted wingers and centre-backs are deeper DM's; that's just football now. If we have to play an extremely defensive midfielder to drop back with Dan when 3/4 defenders push up we may as well just have 2 proper defenders and a more attacking DM. Tactically speaking Dann just wouldn't work. The reason Fonte does so well at Southampton is because he's not that slow and Van Dijk is very quick to recover.

If you are using 2 defensive midfielders to cover your players bombing on that usualy means a high back line.
Like at blackburn, Dann can't play in a high back line.
Put him in a defence sitting on the edge of there box and he is fantastic, put him in a defence that is up by the halfway line and that is were you would see him struggle.

This aint me saying he isnt good, i just think he suits certain defences and certain tactics

Don't think we will be using two defensive midfielders, believe that if the Mata rumours have a bit of truth Ross will be pushed further back alongside Barry/Besic/McCarthy, this also depends upon who is still at the club, one of those three will go
 
I want my defenders to defend and not concede goals, everything else is a bonus.
If John Stones does stay for another season, he will be a totally different more effective player or he will find himself on the bench. There will be no more of messing around with the ball in his own area.

Reading the comments from others it would seem that Jags is the one to lose out.
I think the fight will be for the one to play with him.

Think he pulled out over playing time. And the fact he's now valued at 30 mil prices he probably has done alright

According to his Wiki page Manolas pulled out as his club lost the other centre backs to injury and he didn't want to leave them in the lurch.

Still strange to think we could have Manolas, Mustafi, Stones and Dier on our books - 4 of the most highly rated young centre backs around.

It's why we should consider Moyes as DOF :)

We were offered Saul a couple of years ago and turned him down also.

You dont think Manolas "has set the world on fire"?

He totally transformed Roma's defence and ia considered to be their lynchpin and leader not to mention the best or one of the best CBs in Italy.
