Everton Transfer Thread 2016

All absolutely spot on completely, different league at a different pace can often be very very difficult

Also massively depends on the system a manger uses - some can excel in one system and look utterly lost in another, same goes for who the cb partner is for them, some need a certain type of player next to them to look their best or even need to be the main man etc

Trust me he wasn't mate, got a fair few friends who are STH for Newcastle and they reckoned he only turned up at home games and when it was a game under the TV lights, second half of the season especially they reckon he went mising and slated him massively
Ok, I have seen him a few times when they were playing in a TV game. And liked... Probably better to get somebody else than. Or maybe just give a chance to a youngster like Dowell.

True but lets have a reality check here....I didnt recommend Sahko,Otemendi or mangala....

But i am recommending Manolas. Huge difference in scouting ability here and football knowledge.

Easy to forget i know...

Sahko - PSG captain at 21 - huighly touted, looks like bambi on ice in the premier league
Ottamendi - voted defender of the year and in the team of the season in Spain and was the rock in the Valencia defence - looks utterly error prone and lost in the premier league
Mangala - hugely thought off and touted player, played at a really good level in the CL etc, looks utterly horrid in this league

Not gonna spend time vaulting you on this mate, but i am pretty sure that in the past you have actually touted Mangala as a player we should have went for btw when he was still at Porto

BTW are you seriously saying you have more ability at scouting players than Txiki Begiristain?

Not slating you for thinking that mate, thought he looked good myself but they where adamant that he was one of the players who basically dissapeared most in games after a bright start to the season and will always listen to the lads who watch him week in week out on stuff like that

Zat lives in fantasy land where only his opinion is correct and anything he contradicts himself with didn't happen. Best to ignore him as he 'scouts' these players on Fifa/FM and he is the world's biggest football hipster. Best not trying to reason with him, you will go around in circles for days with him

Dont onow FIFA, the last footie game i played was sensible soccer many yeara ago. Have got FM but play with fake players...

I think you'll find im quite consistent with my wishlist of players...here we dont have premier league on TV so i need to watch streams but do have dutch/german/spanish/french and loads of other football on tv.

Also as ive been pretty ill for 2 years it gives me a lot of time to watch matches...and if you look in the tv series thread in the ale house you can see i watch series in a few days as well as loads of movies.

So i would likely know more foreign players than Man City ones for example.

But they do which is the problem in modern day football; full-backs are converted wingers and centre-backs are deeper DM's; that's just football now. If we have to play an extremely defensive midfielder to drop back with Dan when 3/4 defenders push up we may as well just have 2 proper defenders and a more attacking DM. Tactically speaking Dann just wouldn't work. The reason Fonte does so well at Southampton is because he's not that slow and Van Dijk is very quick to recover.

I dont think that modern football i think its Martinez football, which is why we are largely gash at the back. I think your missing the vairence point here mate, Jags is 34 by the start of next season i think it would be counter productive to flog him for 45 games. We clearly miss his organisational skills and steel in defense. He would add to that pool.

Additionaly there will be times, when the defense will have to sit deep, we had it for years with great success with Distin and Stubbs, Jags and Distin, certainly Dann and Jags would be an excellent combination. In more open games, Mori and Stones can play a part, im not wholly convinced that centre back is Stones best position if im being honest.

What it offer you is an opurtunity to have deep centre halves, an attacking therat from left right and centre, how many times were we stopped attacking through the Baines and Pienaar combo - when team cottoned on our attacking threat came down the left. Clearly this provides options when one route isnt working, left side is closed down, the right becomes an option, when both are closed down cenrally becomes an option, this is what good tactical coaching is all about. Enabling players to make decisions in terms of how best to break down opposition by making the best use of the space. At the same time to remaining solid. Its clearly suicide for each of those areas to attack at once, which was not what i was advocating.

I actually think he'd do a lot better in a team like ours. Fighting relegation in your first season in the Prem under two managers can't have helped him. Seems to play better with more responsibility plus I think he'd be cut price since the relegation.

More importantly this is a central attacker that for once can actually play on the left.

Wow, why not apply for City then as head scout?

Since you live in Asia can you tell me the name of South Korea's brightest young prospect that doesn't play for Barcelona. Since you're top scout and all.

Mangala i was asking if he could improve and if he could do better as a full back (as i dont even remember seeing him play)....the one player ive liked as porto is Neves.

Clearly most people i would hope are better judges of players then RS or Man City scouts....

One player i rated at the RS was Firminho...when everyone slated him i said he would come good...also Suarez i knew would be brilliant in the prem

just like janssen would be for us as ive said for ages ...

I can barely walk at the moment so i wouldnt be able to watch live games other than on TV. Also i would need to sign an exclusivity agreement with them so wouldnt be able to share my knowledge on this forum....i wouldnt then be able to enrich peoples lives with my posts

Not sure why id watch south korean football? Used to watch quite a lot of Japanese football many years ago when nakata was at perugia but neither is on tv here and wouldnt watch it anyway...
