Everton Transfer Thread 2016

No chance.

Say we got £40mil for Stones. So'ton would genuinely demand that much for VVD, if not more. He's on a six year deal he signed in April, and Southampton won't want another fire sale - especially to us after we've taken Koeman.

VVD is a good player, very good, actually. But no way he's worth £40mil when we could go out and get somebody equally as capable from abroad for half of that.
I would have saved us a fortune if our scouting network read Grand Old Team, Wanyama, Forster and VVD would all be in an Everton jersey now.

That is just madness.

Barca put the clause there to stop people paying it and if it doesn't stop anyone then football is on its arse. I can under stand the odd fee being paid for a player worth it, but neymar (or anyone) isn't suddenly worth 150 million.

In todays 25m for Lallana market, Neymar, Messi and Suarez are certainly worth 150m. If someone asked me whether i'd prefer us to get 4-5 decent players or throw it all on Neymar, it'd be a pretty tough one to answer. NB - Theres no way we could afford his wages o'r he'd ever consider coming here.

Agree on that mate - but in fairness I don't think McCarthy is or ever will be that player. He can be the 'box to box' player, but in more that he can make tidy passes and good third man runs (which he always does when he's provided goals/assists/a threat going forward.

I think RK will play a variant of 4-3-3/4-1-4-1 if indeed he is looking for a 'dominating' CM.

was talking about we'd see the best of Witsel under Koeman mate - not mccarthy as he isn't that physical dominating type obviously, but still think mccarthy will have a p;lace - just not an every game starter like under Martinez, anyways over to the press conference now - first one i've looked forward too for a long whilst ;)

How do you figure? A player that is as marketable as Neymar could probably justify over 200m and it would still easily be a net gain.

The lad who tends to get literally everything right on the City forum seems to think it was agreed before the Euros for £45m.

Disappointing if true but I think there is potential for him to stay. The Baines comments were very revealing - senior players were massively relieved to get shot of El Fraudo and are pleased with Koeman and the club direction
Orly.
I think that the move to City sounds about right, the fee would be more or less the right amount as well and he is the type of player Guardiola loves.

I am not convinced about Stones as a defender and I think going to play at City will make him worse rather than better. I want defenders to stop the opposition scoring anything else is a bonus , I think Stones is a footballer first and defender second. When you see Smalling and Cahill ahead of him for England it shows that Hodgson has reservations as well.

I would say that Baines was thrilled to see RMleave. I would say he would have taken you or I to manage the club before RM.
When a player like Baines spoke out as he did last season it shows just how bad things must have been.

Because the minute you pay that amount then the asking price goes up again before it just goes too far.

Would spurs have asked for 80 for bale if ronaldo didn't move for that? Same principle, and Neymar may be good, but is he in the same capacity honestly that ronaldo was in when he moved?

honest questions like, not saying he isnt as i don't watch barca that much.

I know I'll get bashed for naming an American player but John Brooks has had a good year for his club and is having a stellar Copa America. Young, athletic, physical defender. Seems to care about defending first, doesn't mess about with the ball.

As I said yesterday about the fact I don't think they'll be any new signings until pre season is under way, having listened to RK presser, he mentioned several times assessing current squad first.

I appreciate he's not going to come out & say "I plan a massive rebuild" etc at this point but he does need to see players up close in my opinion before making any concrete decisions on who to bid for/ make available. When does pre season start?
