I'm getting a bit restless now that there's been no movement. I know that the Euros have put a block on things but some clubs have already signed players for big money. Mata hasn't even been involved in the Euros so why hasn't he been signed yet? It's getting a bit smoke and mirrors. Prob need to wait to sell first.

Why would it be a step down for mata but not for witsel?

Witsel is coming from the Russian league, where as Mata would be coming from one of the worlds biggest clubs, of which he's played CL Football almost every season for the last what, 4/5/6 years ? (Chelsea included). Not to mention he has a medals with Spain.

Yes, this has crossed my mind too. So far it's been a bit same old same old with transfers seeming to take forever. The exception being that we're linked to a better class of players now. I was expecting there to be more action at this point tbh.

Galloway is a centre half though, he may have filled left back to an okay standard but Both Oviedo and Garbutt are better left backs.

Garbutt should be pushing/learning from Baines now imo.

I think BG did better than okay TBH.

For his age and inexperience, sure he did better than okay. However for the standard required of a fullback these days, he did just okay. So much promise with him, but he looked very nervous on the ball, not his fault, he's a centreback, wouldn't expect him to be as fluent going forward as any natural left back.

Would def take Pelle for 5m. Shouldn't be worth much more than that due to age and contract and wanting to leave. 5-7m tops. Def take him for that if we could get rid of Niasse and Kone too, plus get a better striker too.

He's not available for 5 million though. Will be closer to 15 million.

I think it's the old mentality of people mate. I'd like to think with moshris money and Koemans appointment we will start to turn the tide

Agreed. There's been a number of significant transfers of teams above and around where we should be and we seem to be kicking our heels. Witsel is a different case as he's been at the Euros and his agent has presumably been sorting things for him, but he's had time to look at the offers now and with our clout we should be offering him a better pay package then any other suitor.

I'm not convinced Mata will happen as I think it will represent a step down for him and if he's not onboard with the long term project (he's 28 now) then I don't want him here. Think we need to aim higher than United's cast offs

I've never seen him at CB so basing my appraisal on his performances last season which I was suitably impressed.

One step back for two steps forwards. We'll be a big, trophy winning club soon. Give it two to three years and we'll be genuine title contenders and win the odd trophy or two as well. Man United no question have more trophies than us and it would take a long time to catch up to them, but as for Chelsea we are more successful than them already and it won't be hard to get back up to NSNO.
