Everton Transfer Thread 2016

Probably offering 40m and hoping he'll whack in another transfer request and cause a hissy fit and split the Everton camp. I genuinely think if Everton refuse all offers below his price he'll get his head down and give us his best this season. If City meet our asking price (every player has one - if somebody offers 65m for Lukaku he'll be gone too) then we'll allow Stones to leave.

....the problem with Stones 'getting his head and giving us his best' is that he's not on a mega contract at EFC (in comparison with others at the club). A mega contract is on offer but he'll be losing a fortune if he plays for another season without signing it. The club hold all the Aces which is why I think his demeanour has changed.

Kind of the ideal transfer window that (better keepers for me though).

Dunno mate think Begovic is a huge enough improvement over what we have/had, that i'd be happy for now, Chelsea fans want to keep him which kind of shows maybe he wasn't as bad as we are led to believe last season

Yeah would like some world class keeper obviously, but we wpon't be able to comletely sort out every position to 100% satisfaction in just one summer

Yep exactly this.

I don't think we'll actively look to sell Stones, even with FFP regulations, as I don't see us really needing more than five players this summer as it stands.

CM (Witsel / Carvalho), AM (Mata / Sigurdsson), GK (Begovic), ST (back-up for Rom - Rolan?), RB (back-up for Coleman).

If one or more of our current midfielders leaves then we would need another CM as well probably.

Of all the player links we have I am still only desperate for us to sign a world class goalkeeper.

We have potentially a very good squad still, only 12 months ago it was rated as our best since the 80s, and we have the added bonus of a few of the academy lads looking ready to step up. The one glaring point though is Southall was part of that era. I would like another top drawer striker too, but we need that keeper.

Do we think the 4 new players today will be unveiled in one go or dripped out over the course of the day?

... or is the a shocking possibility that THE ITK's are wrong nothing will happen AGAIN. Surely not!

Anyone think that all these resurfaced lukaku rumours could be the cause of these failed / delayed signings. We all expected stones to go but not lukaku, me too. But not so sure now.
If that's right, then all previous planning (based on 40 m clear profit in stones sale for wages) and potential signings (specific positions to fit lukaku - mata) go pretty much out the window.
Hope I'm wrong.

In fact, better than that tell me I'm wrong.

The same thought occured to me. I think it very reasonable for us to refuse a transfer request from Lukaku, on the basis that we showed the requisite "ambition" signing players this summer.

I think he is staying come what may now, but the scenario that we will line up by September 3rd with him in the team not significantly bolstered by 3-4 signings as a minimum is really too depressing to contemplate. It may lead to another round of washing dirty linen in public from Lukaku as the season progresses, which nobody wants to see.

There just has to be a few decent signings, end of.

Leighton Baines
* Ross Barkley
* Gareth Barry
Muhamed Besic
* Tom Cleverley

That is the squad at september last year. Imagine if some of those players highlighted were actually players for the team rather than barely featuring?

You forgot to highlight Kevin(I play for me) Mirallas......

Sigurdsson is on a par with Cleverley to me, not even close to Mata.
Maybe under Koeman Sigurdsson may impress but I've never noticed him in any game I've watched. Wouldn't be a signing I'd want but if he comes then hopefully he can prove me wrong, and I would deffo give the guy a chance.
It's all about opinions at the end of the day.
On par with Cleverley?!?!

No, not even a comparison. Gylfi is loads better. Don't see Tom leading Iceland to the euro quarterfinals. Sigurdsson has been a standout at Swansea and is a class player - he may not be all world, but he is very, very good.

Only level comparison between these two might be they are both attached to fit birds.....

Rakatic agent saying "its time to leave" after the signing of Andre Gomes.. that's a marquee signing that i wouldn't mind

For one, it was just a 'cryptic' tweet by his new agent. Not actually definitely in relation to anything to do with that.

Two, if it is anything to do with that, then it could well just be the agent wanting a better deal for his latest client.

Three, if he does leave, he'll be off Juve, Chelsea etc etc.

Can't see it happening or even coming close.
