Everton Transfer Thread 2016

He'll be involved in everything, player trading negotiations will be down to Walsh now; in all honesty he's had free ride with kenWright and struck some awful deals like kitbag and Chang. ...that's elstone for you.

As a ceo he's had some major failures, it's bizzare that he kept his position, but he has someone who will more ruthless looking down now

I'd be much more comfortable about the club's situation if it weren't for the fact bill and elstone still remain. Whatever capacity that is I dunno.

But I'm massively cynical and there's no commercial rationale for it.

I think it's got to the point where we have to admit this has been a very disappointing summer.

For all the talk of war chests and new dawns, we're about to go into the season with a squad which is arguably even weaker than the one which has limped to 11th for the last two years.

This isn't like 3 or 4 years ago when we moaned about not 'kicking on' but knew the squad we had would probably still finish 6th or 7th, we have a bottom half squad and the lack of signings is a major worry for me, I don't mind admitting it.

How many season tickets do you think we'd sell if they only went on sale tomorrow? Not 32k that's for sure. At this moment in time, I feel like I've been led up the garden path. There's a couple of weeks to change my perception of the summer, and I hope to God we can do it.

I'm not despairing yet - I'm still backing Moshiri and Koeman to make some boss signings between now and the window shutting.
However - I thought it might be interesting to analyse some of our previous summers. I went back to 2002/03 (the first full season of Moyes' reign) to look at when we've done our business (first team signings only - not looking at youth signings) and how we've got on in the first match of the PL season.

Here are some key headlines:

1. Our win % on day one of the PL season since 2002/03 is 21% (w3 d4 l7)

2. We've only managed to do 57% of our total summer transfer business in time for the first PL game of the season since 2002/3

3. In the five seasons where we're completed the majority of our transfer business AFTER the first PL game, we have a 0% win record in the first match (d1 l4)

Crude data to some extent - but it shows that:
a. This season is nothing new - we typically only ever manage to get just more than half of our meaningful transfer business done in time for our first
b. Starting game one with an incomplete squad is seemingly never a good thing. Lump on Spurs next Sat!

I do think there are multiple people on here that have led themselves up the garden path.

We've argued about this on here for months.

A dose of realism is needed in people on here.

Seriously. It was NEVER EVER going to all happen this summer.

Only people believing stupid newspaper stuff meant that they thought it would.

Kinell.

Opta Stat thingy is a curse on our game.

That proves it.

Sake.

I personally believe the money is there, Evertons reputation has just taken a Hammering over the past 2 seasons under Martinez, not only the successive 11th placed finishes, but also the media promoting our top stars such as Lukaku and Stones wanting to leave for a "big club."

Its going to take a year or so to regain some recognition around europe, a top 7 finish is a must this season.
i'm 27, that's always been the case to me, nothing to do with two 11th placed finishes

I'm not an idiot. I never thought we'd spend £100m and I've said that on this forum many times. But stekelenburg and gueye? I'd have been disappointed with that business in ANY summer, never mind one where we're supposedly looking to get back in the big time.

I'm by no means a bed wetter, but I am getting concerned by the lack of incomings as it's clear we are no better than a mid table side at the moment. That's not what I want from Everton whoever is the owner/manager/CEO/resident forum police.

Why's he still in his role? And what the heck does he do then? Just curious.

Why does he deserve do be sacked?

Not saying he's good or bad at his job but how the heck would you know one way or the other?

I guess you're one of the BK haters, who hates him cos he wasn't born a billionaire too.

My guess is, you've never met Elstone, have no idea wether he's good or bad at his job and have no reason to want to call for him to be sacked other than you don't like him for some jumped up reason.
