Everton Transfer Thread 2016

Fair enough mate, but they looked pretty decent before City signed them. That club has the ability to turn gold into poo and I'm not convinced that's been down to the players ability.
They have been found out in the premier league. They may have looked 'decent' in other leagues but frankly both of them have been poor at city. That is being in a good side, who dominate possession in all the games and don't have to defend that much, when they do, these two have been found wanting. It's all about opinions, I don't rate the pair and neither does pep and the money they are on, its never going to happen.

Have you watched any pre-season games? Spurs squad is far better than ours. We will lose. And probably draw the next few....
This is my worry. Our midfield isn't creating chances. If we don't get a higher calibre of players in, in this window, we are not going to have the creativity to open teams up and likely as you say, draw games we should have the capability to beat.

...Kone interest continues apparently;

http://www.[Publication is blacklis...-to-17m-this-week-to-land-27-year-old-report/

More signs we are 'downgrading' on targets IMO

Carvalho interest and bid becomes Gueye signing (a saving of 20m)
Stones being sold and replaced with Koulibaly becomes Stones sold and replaced with Kone (a saving of 30m)
Stekelenberg coming in as backup with Hart/Cillesen/Smeichel etc signed, looks more likely to become we go with him as number 1 due to his 'impressive' pre season and no keeper signed (a saving of 10-20m)

Would give us a keeper from Fulham
A cm from Villa
and a cb from Sunderland
and a cb from Swansea (if he signs)

as our 4 signings thus far, hardly marquee, hardly making a statement (well it does but not the statement intended)

Meanwhilst the ghost of Witsels past, the spectre of Mata and various other ridicuolous styories about Draxler (and probably any other massive name that comes available) will be linked and thrown about, and we will wait and see.

Yes we are taking the better players off very very bad teams - and maybe players who flopped when theyb where the best on bad teams and stepped up to a good team (like Bony will be)

But optimism of us going out and making people sit up and take notice has rapidly evaporated for me, not one of the players signed or likely to sign at this moment is anything better than we signed under Kenwright which is alarmingh, and all of the 'likely' transfers (Gueye - 7m, Williams -12m, Kone - 17m? and Bony -15m?) would ammount to about what we will have sold Stones for...

Time to put up or shut up about our ambitions from Moshiri if he has the ambition he is supposed to have, you don't get diddly squat for 'trying to do soemthing' only if you do it

why will we be playing catch up? catch up with who?

we've made as many signings as Spurs have... we've got a decent squad that does need improvement.

at the moment we look a bit flat and it will most likely take some time for the style to click - and a few new signings would obviously help.

but the time to worry is if we haven't got the players in by the time the window shuts. not now. people are reading into things way too much at the moment.

BIG difference mate, Spurs by and large had a great season for them, and are going to be going into this season with a huge amount of confidence and a team that worked very very well as a unit this year, and as a young team is now a year older and more experienced, by that alone they will have very much improved, they have also plugged their two biggest weaknesses in the team - no backup to Kane (singed Janssen) no backup to Dembele (signed Wanyama)

meanwhilst we utterly fell apart last season and whilst we have a new manager bounce going into this season, its still the saem group of players who basically collapsed last year and that showed serious character issues in the team that havent been adressed by a long shot. bringing in genuine quality would have massively effected us posuitively moreson than a team which was on the up doing so would have

......I think there's a timeline factor at play here. I believe we have genuine ambition to bring in our key (expensive) targets but none have been captured to this point and with the season fast approaching there is a need to bring some personnel in.

What I am reading into it is that the season starts next weekend, and EFC have stood still

Definite job of lowering expectations going on in last few days. They can't deliver on their promises and should speak honestly to the club. Martinez said he'd get 4th. Moshiri says we'll mix with the elites. Empty hollow words.

I'm off to Scotland for 3 days from tomorrow with work. Limited access to GOT. I really do hope when I check at lunchtime tomorrow, that there's news on signings.
Come on Everton get it done!
