Everton Transfer Thread 2016

Fair enough :)

Just so ridiculous. He has a decent half a team there and would have known that even at southampton....for goodness sakes even we as unprofessional crazy fans know a fair bit about other teams.

Yet hes done nothing but sign tosh and play negative football.

Agree mate, I backed Martinez to the hilt, but the West Ham game had me thinking it was time he moved on, but I can still appreciate what he did, and it wouldn't surprise me if the lads who are saying he is to blame for what's going on now, were the same lads saying his squad was the best since the 80s.

well i'm basing esk's info over rags and yes he may be wrong. But he's saying we've offered about 8 or 9 million euros more than the only other competitor. And he's happy with the wages offered etc. that's not the issue there.

We probably have some sort of total we need to keep in line with so can't go overspending by a mass amount on all targets as it may mean we have to buy 1 player less.

I don't think what we're offering is the issue, our club's stature is just a lot lower than rivals/the clubs these players believe they should be at.
To summarise what i said in another thread mate, asuming we sell Stones, and one other for roughly a 5-6m trading profit (mCCarthy for 11-12m would achieve that as would cleverley for 5-6m for example)

and factoring in players released and the sales above and new contracts in the 100-140k pw mark for Barkley, Lukaku, and increases for other first team players of about 150k across the board (say Deulofue, Mori etc, then we'd be able to raise wages this coming season by about 1.2-1.3m per week

thats been the stated aim of bridging the gap to the teams above and the ambition of the owner.

That would allow 3 additions on 50k pw, 3 on 100k pw, 2 on 150k pw, and 3 on 200k pw. There is absolute no chance on earth we are adding 10 players to the squad, so why exactly are we selling stonjes to allow such an increase in wages - esepcially given the situation we are not offering anything close to 200k pw and likely not offering 150k pw

Doing it another way around, we could add 5 players on 50k pw (the likes of gueye etc) and 10 players on 100k pw, honestly the math doesnt add up on this at all and it's setting alarm bells ringing for me anyway

Any of Carvalho, Witsel, Koulibaly etc that we REALLY wanted to buy we could have had here by now if we had paid a figure in wages for them that would far far exceed anything they could expect any other club with interest to offer them, the fact is we havent done that, we have instead trieds to get them for a minor amount more in wgaes than they cpould earn if they held out for another increased profile team and thats basically us trtying to make a statement without taking any form of control in the situation and with us fully aware that we may end up missing out on any or all the targets by that strategy.

More signs we are 'downgrading' on targets IMO

Carvalho interest and bid becomes Gueye signing (a saving of 20m)
Stones being sold and replaced with Koulibaly becomes Stones sold and replaced with Kone (a saving of 30m)
Stekelenberg coming in as backup with Hart/Cillesen/Smeichel etc signed, looks more likely to become we go with him as number 1 due to his 'impressive' pre season and no keeper signed (a saving of 10-20m)

Would give us a keeper from Fulham
A cm from Villa
and a cb from Sunderland
and a cb from Swansea (if he signs)

as our 4 signings thus far, hardly marquee, hardly making a statement (well it does but not the statement intended)

Meanwhilst the ghost of Witsels past, the spectre of Mata and various other ridicuolous styories about Draxler (and probably any other massive name that comes available) will be linked and thrown about, and we will wait and see.

Yes we are taking the better players off very very bad teams - and maybe players who flopped when theyb where the best on bad teams and stepped up to a good team (like Bony will be)

But optimism of us going out and making people sit up and take notice has rapidly evaporated for me, not one of the players signed or likely to sign at this moment is anything better than we signed under Kenwright which is alarmingh, and all of the 'likely' transfers (Gueye - 7m, Williams -12m, Kone - 17m? and Bony -15m?) would ammount to about what we will have sold Stones for...

Time to put up or shut up about our ambitions from Moshiri if he has the ambition he is supposed to have, you don't get diddly squat for 'trying to do soemthing' only if you do it

Stevo has snapped.

I fear I will soon too. Abar 5pm next Sat I reckon.

I'm looking back at our pre season so far with a lot of anger to be honest mate lol

I've been fortunate that I missed last weekends Dresden cup and yesterday's game. Managed to watch the game against the mancs which was absolutely plop.

Pre season though mate, chances are we turn up against Spurs and we see a completely different performance.

Still, a couple of players in would certainly be a boost to not just the fans but the players as well.

I disagree, Begovic is better than we currently have (which is the point). Remy has got 30-odd caps for France so isn't rubbish. The money would buy a decent striker and our squad is improved - again, improving the squad is the point of transfers and if Lukaku is determined to go that is what we have to do, No?

Robles is Robles
Stek is pretty dire since he joined Roma and cant catch a ball
Begovic is a hybrid of both

Theres plenty of attainable keepers we could sign who are far better....and no reason Koeman hasnt signed them either

Absolutely not. He signed and developed some class players which Koeman now has and can work with...what has Koeman done?

Stek
Gueye
2 years for Gibson.

Hes had time to sign players and has failed...even if he signed some tomorrow they arent ready for the league.

Im sick of this Martinez blame when Koeman hasnt done anything different.

Gibson signed his extension before Koeman was appointed.

There are MANY players we could have signed already as well...not only 8 around.

Id wager calhanoglu, Tah and Leno would all leave their club at the drop of a hat for the right money

We mayb be offering the likes of Koulibaly a sluightly better deal than Chelsea, same for Witsel with Napoli or Juve etc, and we may have offered Carvalho a lot mpore than he is currently on.

But to make a statement you will need to pay for doing so, we aren't willing to do that.

making a statement would be looking at what the likes of Chelsea or Juve pay for similar players and going 25-30% more on a contract to these lads.

Gibson was re-signed with the club when we didn't have a manager, Koeman wasn't at the club yet.

Im sure he was asked about the out of contract players before he joined...would have been strange not to show him the squad etc and ask him his future plans etc

Its on Koeman.

No way is football, or life for that matter, that simple.

Not quite yet mate, but the math and the strategy we are using doesn't add up when it's broken down, earlyh on maybe so, but the later it's getting then the more it looks at best a flawed strategy and at the most cynical a way we can appear to be trying without doing what we have made out we are trying to do

No way is football, or life for that matter, that simple.

Koulibaly offerd 200k pw or Witsel or Mata or Carvalho would be in our shirt now mate, likely 2 of those for substantially less than that, we are trying to beat out competition by paying a little more than they are willing too, when we have a gap in 'desirability' between us and these teams far exceeding a little bit

I will tell you what a statement is mate. If we bid for a Draxler or an Isco and offer them whatever were supposedly offering Lukaku. Also a decent sign on fee

No one, literally no one can tell me that £20mil for Leno and over £100k a week wouldnt have him signed a month ago.

In a nutshell yes mate
