To be honest looking at the squad I believe the strength heeds to be put in midfield more than anything else.

Defensively we are better than all the negative posters say. International defenders with a former world class defender in charge should lead to less goals conceded and more concentration. Adding a Williams type player to what we have now will only improve that.

Attack we have good winger options and a top striker. Barkley great as well at what he does. Just thst middle of the park thst is out weakness , improve that and it could pull all the other areas together into a well drilled machine

Granted we also need back up options but priority needs to replace Barry and Mccarthy with much better players to press and cover ground to release the ball up the pitch.

I'd even stay with Stekelenberg in goal if it meant we could prioritise that.

Have any "respected" journos even got close to Koeman to pose the questions such as #1 keeper, lack of so called marquee signings etc. I see other managers getting quoted interviewed but not much in media from our Gaffer.

Agree, signing for signing sake isn't the way to go. look up Niasse in the dictionary for that one hahahaha.

However, it is painfully obvious to everyone that we need reinforcements in the right areas, lets be honest, we haven't heard a massive amount of players linked and i think that with everything being closed doors now we are likely to hear less and less. I would however like us to be seen to saying to these players "all our eggs aren't in your basket, if your going to arse around then we will close the book on X date".

The witsel thing is the clearest situation we could look at for this. Obviously a player who would improve us, obviously a player we want, but for a multitude of reasons he is weighing his options - its been probably 4 weeks maybe since we first heard about this and an offer has been on the table. While i think we should give him every opportunity to complete the deal, due to the closed door situation at the club we dont know if they are working down a list.

Of even if there is a list. You'd hope there would be. As a club we need players to push us on, and the other players here - I just dont want us to be in a situation on deadline day where we are making calls and getting turned down, or worse, Niasse mk2 (not that i think that would happen under the current set up, but still you get the point.)/

Not a normal positive post hahahaha, but think we are all starting to get dragged down with the lack of movement in this window.

It's frustrating mate, and if it comes to the last week of the window and we're like this I'll be concerned - but even in that scenario I'm confident we'll get the deals done - whoever we end up bringing in.

Williams and one other (don't know who mind) this week and I'd be delighted.

Heads falling off all over the place again, just another monday morning on GOT. No the window hasn't been great as a fan. Im as bad as anyone for checking this place and Sky Sports News out every 30 mins to see if anything has happened but am I worried that we are not going to get anyone in and Everton are going to be relegated and the world is going to end?! Not at all.

One of the things that actually gives me hope is the way Moshiri is going about things. He is looking to put an infrastructure in place that makes us a well run business that has no fail point. He has put the director of football model in place so that we can carry on if/when Koeman leaves. He has gone out and brought in a name manager. He has sussed out that Bobby Elstone brings nothing to the table so sends him on missions to Africa where he cant do any damage and he has culled Kenwrights dealings with the club. We are not yet a well ran club but we are becoming one. We have bombed out out backroom staff who seemed to make our players hamstring akin to pepperami sticks over the past few years and the squad actually looks fit. We have also got rid of, and lets be honest here and not sentimental, a load of freeloaders who may have contributed to Everton in the distant past but have stolen a wage for at least two seasons. If you don't think that we are in a better shape than we were 12 months ago when this was being held up as the best squad of players since the 80's you are quite frankly mental.

We will bring players in. Personally think we are going to see Bony and Williams come in this week and Stones go. I cant see Lukaku going but do think we may still take Begovic even though he isn't my choice of keeper. I may be in the minority but I do think we will get Mata too and if we end the window with a decent keeper, one of the best centre halfs in the prem over the last few years, the coveted 10 and a backup striker who scored 35 in 70 at swansea I think that is a solid start for the revolution. We do need to still get a few hidden gems in too and Im sure Walsh is looking at that but we also have a particularly talented pool of youngsters who Unsworth said that there are half a dozen ready to play premiership first team football.

Nil Satis Nisi Optimum has not been the Everton way for some time but at least now but I honestly believe that Moshiri knows what he needs to do to make us successful and will do it. He doesn't have the mega money of a sheikh but has proved himself to be a shrewd businessman and if he didnt see something in Everton he wouldn't have put his money where his mouth is. I would have preferred the business to all have been done at the start of the window but I imagine lots of our deals are being held up by other teams wanting replacements for the players we have targeted. I don't see 8 teams better than us as it stands, a couple more and we are on the champions league/europa precipice where we become an entirely different marketing proposition to other players. I think the Everton landscape is going to change very quickly over the next two years and feel free to vault me on this but we will have broken ground on a new stadium and be challenging for champions league places in that timeframe.

Not to be disrespectful to individual people, but I've personally given up listening to all the supposed sources as nothing has really materialised.

They may happen in the future, and I sincerely hope they do, however I think people are becoming too entwined in the expectations of the story.

We've been almost promised lots of marquee names yet as of now none have materialised. Maybe people should take a step back...

People shouldn't take everything anyone says as gospel mate, I think.

Esk has been sound in that he's passed on info but always stressed things were also his opinion. It's not his fault people have neglected that.

I trust his info is right at the time he receives it. I don't blame anybody or the club for the lack of deals. I'm just willing to wait and see what happens by Sept 1st.
