@davek . I think we have to realise it will a different team playing in a different way under RK. I think it will take us a while to even understand fully what the manager is trying to do. The manager obviously see gaps in the squad that we don't see, of course it must also be said that we will probably be active in the market right up to the very end and may see other gaps that are more obvious to us all filled.
I think I know the way he'll usually want to set up. But whatever system is adhered to you need people who can score goals. So just having one in at the moment does not serve us well. If Lukaku got injured what happens then?

Elsewhere: I really think it's up to Koeman to come in and try to adapt some players before throwing cash at positions we already have covered. I just dont buy 'the pressing specialist". If ANY player cant get that side of the game into their repertoire then they're not fit to call themselves professional. Pressing is not an acquired talent, it's discipline that should easily be tapped into.

not to pushed on hart myself mate.never was.for every great save there is a howler.if he was any bit decent city wouldn't be letting him go.
It is all down to the manager. Pep likes a different type of keeper, and having Neur in his team for 3 years he can see the benefits of it to his system.

Means nothing, because 3 managers before pep were happy to have hart as their number one and chopped their number 2 about instead.

Hart is a top keeper with bags of experience, and at 29 is relatively young for a GK. Why would we need one any younger?

Let's see how top class he is when he hasnt got a billion quids worth of talent in front of him.

Hart is an example of the triumph of presentation over content if ever there was one.

i dont think gueye has been bought purely for pressing, he seems to be able to anticipate danger better(guess thats where his high interceptions stats comes from)

Ya fair point mate alot does come down to managers and what system/style they want to play but i just could never warm to him.for all his great shot stopping he always just looks to be an accident waiting to him.gets serious rushes of blood to the head.

Yeah, but you know, it's all part of that general ratting effort that's needed in those positions: close down space; put a foot in; recycle the ball...

Disagree. Although expensive, city's defence has in particular in recent seasons been poor. Without Kompany they have not protected Hart to the clean sheets he has.

Last week was a glimpse of life without Rom attacking wise and it was great to watch. I wouldn't even pick Rom tomorrow based on what we seen last week.

yeah it does all seem a bit agricultural, we deffo need a 'number 8' but after the witsel romour nothing else has come up...

Attacker wise: I'm concerned we'll see a late move for Lukaku and then we're struggling to just get a like for like replacement in never mind two strikers at the club. The box to box midfielder is the key to this team, which is why I cant understand why it hasn't been prioritised above all other signings. I'd be happy if he dropped Barkley back there and left it at that, but it's obvious that isn't in Koeman's plans.

I honestly think we have the players at the club to press. The young kid Davies can do it; Cleverley can get behind the ball and work hard and McCarthy who is obviously in Koeman's plans as per his statement yesterday can do the job. Add to that if need be, but I'd have got other primary targets in before I got Gueye in. Hart for me is just dreadful. A magnificent save every now and again to keep the stock high but is clown shoes at all the simple things. Should have gone shopping in the Bundesliga.

I don't particularly agree on Gueye or Hart mate but FWIW think you're right about the midfielder.

For me, Barry will do the job fine if we're playing a counter-attacking system. As long as he's managed right in his game time he'll be brilliant for us this year IMO.

However, I personally still think we need a player who can dominate a game from deep - especially against teams that we should be beating comfortably on paper.

That being said, if we sign Ghezzal, then it appears Koeman (who has publicly stated he wants Ross to take more responsibility) may well choose to move Ross deeper - either in a 2 or as part of a 4-1-4-1/4-3-3.

He won't keep the same formation for a lot of games and I think that will benefit us. So it may well be that signing another player who can fill a role up top means that Barkley can take on that role of a box-to-box player.

i have never watched him enough to form a in depth opinion of him sadly so all i can base hart on is that he is better than what we have.

Perhaps a little madess every now and again is not really a bad thing? And with this new formation and signings, he could well have 5 defenders in front of him rather than otamendi/di michelis / mangala who struggled at city?

Hart is a good keeper. Better than anything we've had since Martyn.

City's defence despise costing millions is poor, Hart has kept them in many a game. I'd like to think Koeman can setup a defence and a keeper like Hart would keep us in games where other keepers (ie: Howard) has cost us points.
