i want to win the league please mikey

many thanks

(ps- please do a microprose soccer review, many thanks)

If you can get me a copy I will do mate. What's it on?

And I also want to win the League, but if you offered me a top half finish and a league cup win, followed by more transfer action in the summer and confirmation of the dockside stadium, I'd take it for now, and would wait a bit longer for the league win

haha, commodore 64 when i played it! might be an emmulator out there somewhere..(@ijjysmith??)

we have to win the league cup at some point right?!

I think I know the way he'll usually want to set up. But whatever system is adhered to you need people who can score goals. So just having one in at the moment does not serve us well. If Lukaku got injured what happens then?

Elsewhere: I really think it's up to Koeman to come in and try to adapt some players before throwing cash at positions we already have covered. I just dont buy 'the pressing specialist". If ANY player cant get that side of the game into their repertoire then they're not fit to call themselves professional. Pressing is not an acquired talent, it's discipline that should easily be tapped into.
Mate, for me the solution is already here and hiding in plain sight: Ross Barkley.

I wonder whether managers see the same as the rest of us. I think he's utterly wasted anywhere else than CM. He's played there on occasion under Martinez and it was a success. The Derby where he dropped back after a reshuffle after Baines limped off - he was unstoppable; the home game versus QPR before Christmas the following season. He has to be put there or dont play him at all, imo.

Dave you not considered the fact that maybe Koeman does see Ross that way, but right now maybe Koeman believes he neds a lot of work done in training to round out neglected parts of his game which he basically needs in order to play that position effectively and consistantly? - Barkley for the past 3 seasons has been hporribly managed as far as rounding his game out - and fitness wise (evidenced by the stupidly large amount of weight - muscle he was allowed to put on last season) - think he will eventually go into that box to box role, but will need more than 3 weeks training with Koeman before he can be played there really.

As for pressing mate - yeah most players can be tasught to press decently, but to press at the very top level requires a bit more than that - otherwise players like Kante wouldn't be getting bought for 30+ million mate by very good coaches. Certain players just havea knack for it, for intercepting balls and for generally being very effective at stopping the opposition getting any rythm (early doors but Gueye doe slook one of those - and his stats suggested he could be from last season and his time in France as well)

If Barkley is Koeman's answer there then why was he pursuing Witsel? Why haven't we seen him at least tried there yet? Doesn't stack up.
And I think you're harsh on Barkely's lack of development; he went from nothing to an England international in quick time. Only the form of Deli Alli kept him out of Euro2016. Koeman doesn't need to teach him anything, it's all there. I dont see his role in CM as having particular emphasis on tackling (closing down, yeah), so he's good to go already.

Mate, Benteke is getting bought for £30M so that tells us nothing! Kante would have been over run without all the Leicester team getting behind the ball when required. Koeman's big task isn't adapting the likes of Cleverley or Mirallas to do that, it's getting Lukaku to do it. Midfielders whether central or out wide should as of right be willing to get forward and funnel back efficiently in transition. It isn't rocket science to do that. Anyone with a good engine and discipline can do it.

Hoping you're joking lol We didn't even threaten their goalkeeper and only scored because Lloris misjudged the free kick.

Did you watch the game mate??

Did you not see Delefeou's one on one, or the great tip over by there keeper?? Did you miss our 6 shots on target to Spurs' 4. This, despite us only being 70% fit, as we were told by our manager, having an injury ravaged squad in the early stages of new management and no where near ready for the season to start playing against a settled team who were right on it after putting 6 past Milan last week and who will be expecting to better last years great season.

We were excellent, superb for an hour, fast, skilful, intelligent players chasing everything down and linking excitingly up front with clever touches and movement. Delefeou, Mirallas and Barkley were a joy to watch and it was very exciting seeing how Koeman set them up. Once we get up at 100% fitness and add in Bolasie, Lukaku and any other signings it's something to be excited by, very, very promising.
