Everton Transfer Thread 2016

We've still basically spent nothing. Worth keeping in mind when assessing Moshiri.

We have been trying to acquire players since the early summer. Notably all of our major targets have not signed yet for anyone else. Clearly we may not appear to be as attractive as a proposition as we thought earlier in the summer but with slightly more than a week to go we are still going after players.

The time to question what we have done, how well we did it will be after the window closes.

Oh, and unrelated to your quoted post, the expectation is that Hart will join us regardless of the current reports.

I remember when the transfer window opened and when we didn't sign players straight away it was all fine. Then came the 6 weeks to the end of the window. Then season doesn't kick off for another 2 weeks, then three weeks of the window left.

I trust we are signing players at some point but all these don't worry comments look a little silly really .
If anything is silly this is. How can someone contradict themselves within the same sentence and not notice.

It's purely because everyone knows how much money is sloshing round the Prem right now.. players that were worth £3m last season are being touted at £20m+...Koulibaly is probably worth a max of £18m if that...but Napoli realise they can make fortune if they play the game.
£15m for a year loan of Hart is an example... madness
Walsh will hopefully come into his own for us ... otherwise there will be the likes of Niasse coming in for a fortune...oh, hang on..

I could see us picking up a couple of players on loan from Citeh... They may come to their senses over Hart and then I think we may get Bony on a years loan if none of our European experiments pan out. A loan striker would be a good option as cover/alternative for Lukaku clearly that's an area we MUST get cover, although RK is not afraid of reforming the sharp end and playing Del or the new boy up there I would guess... The goalie clamour seems to be calming with solid performances from the steakandburger so far. Potentially we have some youthful cover in the defence in the shape of Holgate, Kenny and even Davies - not sure why we need Kone from S'land unless we plan to sell Jags. Midfield is a different Mata. The heaping of praise on Barry this week has been interesting for a 35 year old in his 20th season, despite the praise he can't be the long term solution. Maybe Besic returning and the enigmatic Gibson are potential replacements for one Barry. Gana seems a good buy and Ross is, well, Ross - always one letter away from dRoss and one letter away from sBarkley. Our mid still lacks creativity with the short passing game notwithstanding our first goal at the weekend. Wingers we have in abundance, although it hasn't ever been a profitable area in the academy it seems.
So where am I rambling to here, 2 loans and a creative midfielder... the least ITK person in the world.
Thank you....

We should all just do other things to take our mind off this thread. I recommend:

Who says I'm not worried? I am worried.

We're struggling to attract the players we want - that does worry me.

But to peg the blame on Moshiri's lack of outlay is just plain wrong - especially since none of us can form an opinion until we know who signs before the deadline.

Just goes to show, all the money in the world and if you are a mid table club it makes no odds. If martinez had just defended a few more leads we wouldn't have had this issue.

If anything is silly this is. How can someone contradict themselves within the same sentence and not notice.

Between panic buying and sorting deals out on our terms?

How is that silly? Buy a player 3 weeks ago and it's all calm and collected. Buy them with a week to go and it's panic buying which can result in spending for the sake of it.

You know, like niasse.

This is what I'm saying. It's indicative that these targets don't yet see us as viable; they haven't seen the ambition that we obviously are beginning to have as a club. That's disconcerting and frustrating, but it's nothing we can't overcome.

I'd venture that with Walsh and Koeman looking for targets, there's always the distinct possibility that we will have the opportunity to snap up a talent that others don't see for bargain money.

Now, I'd like to have a few marquee £30m signings come through the door, but if that can't be done, then there we go.

I trust that Walsh and Koeman can deliver, but it may take a little time. It's very frustrating, but if we can just get another 2 signings in this week, I reckon we have sufficient quality. Maybe not depth yet, but good quality.

I think its also worth noting that we have not 'lost out' on players like Witsel, etc, because they have not actually gone anywhere as yet. Clubs with reputedly more clout than us(Chelsea, Arsenal, Man city etc) are being turned down by targets as much as us, even if their targets are different. Personally I think we have improved the squad considerably already, and two or three more coming in will certainly confirm our intentions, if anyone still has doubts.

Exactly what is nonsense about my post?
Break it down for me. We are signing players from crap teams and we are bidding for champions league players . So where is the nonsense in that?
They maybe from "crap" teams but they are not crap players. Gana has proven in two games to be a lot better then the fee we paid for him. Williams is a top notch premiership centre half and Bolaisse had twenty minutes on the pitch last Saturday and created two great scoring opportunities. We got them because they rightly viewed Everton as a step up from their old sides the problem with signing players from Europe is that guys at Lyon etc aren't going to view us as a step up on where they are at the moment. It's a process that will take time but hopefully will be well worth it

With respect mate, no. The time to question him is right now, because he hasn't put his hand into his pocket and signed players. I find it highly coincidental that we managed to get business done once we sold Stones - because maybe money was suddenly there.

Yes, we can judge Moshiri completely when the window closes, but there's no way I'm not going to be suspicious of him right now either. Despite all the hype and, let's face it, your info which has proven to be, at best, mis-timed, we have seen nothing whatsoever to suggest Everton are anything other than sell to buy. Until we prove otherwise, that is the logical conclusion to come to.

Careful!

You're not allowed to question him anymore.

He hands out warnings if you do so.
