never heard of this lad myself, at least della ali's name cropped up before spurs bought him. We only buy young defenders though so doubt we have any interest.

That was at the end of his career. For all parties his decline came unexpected, we hoped to get a year longer from him and he didn't like getting dropped the way he did. Couldn't leave to play elsewhere so i'm guessing he was a little fustrated.

S'ton need cash in, they dont require Long anymore, Long wants away = bargaining position.

I suspect he'll end up at Liverpool, but it'd be a coup of sorts if we stole a march on them and got him in for the £7/8M they offered.

Southampton may point to the fact that we wanted £8.5m for Naismith, and I think at the end of the day Long is probably the better of the two.

Not just that, but an almost like for like striker who we've been linked with before numerous occasions! Very lazy journalism, don't see why anyone thinks we would sell Naisy for Long at around the same money, massive sideways step. If Long was around 3 mil you could see it as a stop gap but if Naisy is 8.5 then Long is surely around the same.
