Everton Transfer Thread 2016

How's that relevant to our fans attitudes and inability to sign anyone despite being supposedly loaded? The fans have been giving it the large one about we're gonna do this and that, the ITKs the same, all that's missing is taking out shirts off and punching a horse.

A number of 'fans' did yes but if you didn't why worry? Spurs fans will do that tomorrow, until they realise they've signed a gooner that's a bit of a snake?
TDD is one day that didn't go well, we had all summer and somewhere amongst that, the team doing the deals, messed up in 1 or 2 positions. We're still better off as a team/squad and that's where I'm pleased but, people will probably have to answer to the manager as to what went wrong.

Liverpool and Spurs have paid a lot of money for two midfielders who helped relegate Newcastle neither of which were rated by their own fans. Are you really gutted we lost out, I was more worried we were targeting those players. Look at the two clubs, they are renowned for wasting money. Give me Gueye any day over those two.

We have replaced 4 released as below and improved squad
Stek for Howard improvement so far
Gana for Osman improvement
Williams for hibbo improvent
Holgate replaces stones
Bolasie for pienaar improvement

That's four signings and one promotion from the youth team who are all improving the squad and all in the starting 11 as it stands
Williams, clearly to anyone who has eyes and a brain, replaced Stones not Hibbo.

Was it poorly executed. Who knows. Ron plays it close to the chest.

Maybe he looked at the craziness and decided to keep some of his powder dry until January

I think it's clear from respected sources that it was mate.

Not by Ron, or even Walsh, but by people who had been trusted to follow through on their ideas/enquiries.

Getting so close and failing to do a deal with a player/club difficult to deal with I can understand. Leaving it so late and not making sure everything was done is very poor, and needs rectifying by instant action in the next window (based on targets outlined by Koeman and Walsh)

I mean we paid five million to buy Koeman, plus whatever his wages cost on top.. Plus we had to pay Martinez off, and I can guarantee you that will have been paid for by Sky money / any transfer budget we had.
Swerve that, she's a hog who needs putting down.

Cheers, Terry.

So let's look at what actually happened this summer.

1. Moved Stones on. Good. The lad did not have his heart in the club, that was obvious. Best moved on. Ergo +
2. Picked up a replacement GK that is far better than Howard. Ergo +
3. Picked up Williams, central defender with years left in him. Strengthens back four, along with emergence of Holgate. Ergo +
4. Picked up Bolassie. Strong player who I believe will only get better playing alongside better players. Ergo +
5. Picked up Gueye. By all accounts the best buy of the summer. Ergo +
6. Picked up Valencia on loan. Back-up player. Better than some I could name... Ergo +

So, overall, I believe we have done OK in this window. If we have a good half-season, we may yet pull in even better players in January next year, but I feel the full season's performance will dictate how the club moves forward, together with the next major incursion into the transfer market next summer.

So all the naysayers, look at 1 -6 above and give some thought to how the club has done this summer.

And if an outhouse like Sissoko swerved us, then we are better off without him if that is how he conducts himself...

Not just fans, the club and owners too. We're the Newcastle United of the north west.

Joking aside let me try to bring some perspective to the window. This is all based on opinion and rumours as we all are.

First of all we went for Witsel, Malta and koulibaly. Witsel said yes then played us until juventus makes a move.
Juanito Mata is apparently needed for the squad according to mourinho.
Koulibaly would probably only leave for champions league - plus their owner is very hard to deal with.

They are the top three targets according to most, I'm happy we tried to get the quality but right now we need to step up to the top 6 before these players really consider us.

We moved on to Bolasie who we overpaid for, probably wasn't plan A, but for once Everton steamrolled a PL rival and said were rich and we're having him. Jury still out on him.

We signed a solid leader in Ashley Willian's, again we went to Swansea and said we want him name your price. At this point I'm feeling a funny feeling in my stomach, this isn't Everton !

Gana Gueye ? Looks a cracker for £8m, again plan A ? Probably not but Barry isn't exactly 21 is he ? Good buy so far.

Stekelenberg is number 2 but we didn't panic buy in splashing £30m on Joe Hart who apparently wanted a loan deal to think things through. Stekky to his family and Mikey Fitz, has started well, let's give him time.

Others such as Gabbiadini was very close, but Napoli wanted a replacement and didn't find what they wanted, fair play to them, if we sold rom with no Plan To replace we would all poop the bed in anger, bet Wetters would be basic training to supporting Everton fc.

Mousse Sissoko is a dodged bullet to most.

Overall the window was underwhelming but we come out stronger IMO, shame we didn't get some exotic Totty like Berardi or Ziyech but we can't change that. Really gutted about Bony if I'm honest.

Questions need to be asked, heads need to roll, but to see us bring in real quality will need to build slowly and get back amongst the top 6. Maybe then we will see some progress in all areas. stadium issue needs to be addressed ASAP.
No chance of top 6. We have one premier league level forward. Anyone who disagrees is delusional.
