As much as I would like the Horn, if he was available then he would have been bought by someone, but why would FC Köln sell halfway through a season anyway?

If you're going to say, 'Every player has a price' then I will point you to John Stones, we didn't want to sell, so we didn't. Why would you expect another Club to behave differently?

See above he reputedly has a modest buy out clause.

Why no one else went for him I cannot say

Just because he has a 'reported' release clause doesn't mean they have to sell him, it's just that if a bid comes in over that the Club and the Player will talk, if both are happy for a move then he can move. If the Player doesn't want to leave or the Club don't want him to leave then he goes nowhere. Most likely there will be an agreement that he won't go until the Summer to allow them to sort out a proper replacement and get a proper price for him.

short of it is, if he wanted to move and FC Köln were going to allow it he would have moved. Hell there would have been some indication that he might move. All there was was some noise from the RS about how they want him in January and they were told to wee-wee away because he wasn't for sale.

For each of our last few league games I have convinced myself Robles would start only to feel

jags is good in he air he got beat by Oscar for the terry goal & David silva v city when they hit the post

Lesscott got beat by Shaun wright Phillips in a semi... Jags has been here nearly 10 years... If you want to split hair then you will find instances when he has lost duels... But he was part of our meanest defence... And over 10 years he has been strong in the air....

Just because he has a buy-out clause it doesn't mean that he would even want to move mate. He's 22, he's guaranteed first team football where he is and he's settled. Why would he move in the middle of the season.

Good goalkeepers more often than not only move in the summer.

Winning 3-0 is boring so atleast this season we've been exciting??

No not at all... I have reached the point where we can win 3-0 ... Like Carlisle for example... And be totally bored during the process.... Basically the way we play works sometimes and doesn't others... But 90% of the games I watch us play... Are boring or farcical

You're moving the goalposts. You both asked, repeatedly, 'who would be available'. If you are going to then say 'well who's to say he would WANT to move!', then, by your own argument, we'd have no idea if anyone was available ever. He had/has a release clause. He was AVAILABLE.

True but don't think jags has looked great since he come back yes I know he often takes a while to get back to full speed after being injured but he the fact remains he has looked slow & lost two important headers against small diminutive players.

you yourself concede he has been strong in the air over the years lets just hope he is getting back up to speed

My point is that IF he were 'obtainable' at least one of the Clubs who were looking at him would have tested it with a bid. Nobody did, they were obviously told not to bother because he's either happy there or happy to wait until the Summer when a replacement can be found.

Think we know that howard is leaving and we will look to replace him.

Is there any point in having a 5 month conversation about what goal keeper to sign when Niasse proves none of us have a clue who we will sign?

who's to say they didn't and he was waiting for a higher profile club/league to come in?

the point is moot, the windows is over. I get your assertion and i agree with it, goalies rarely move in the winter window. I just think there ARE goalies who are a considerable step up from Howard that would have moved in the window had the club made it a point to get one. I do not believe Martinez did make it a priority. Which is strange considering his mantra in the summertime that he wanted to get a replacement GK.

Do you SERIOUSLY believe that if a good keeper was available to be signed for as little as £6M this window then we wouldn't have been interested?
