Leave it mate, Zat's still not gotten around the fact I've written about 4 times to him how we're not in any way playing even remotely like Barcelona, posts longer than the one you've written here, explaining in detail where he's wrong... and he just ignores it and keeps saying we're emulating Barcelona lol

The only thing Barca about us, is one player who didn't actually fit that style of play so they let him go to us, and a manager who was born in that region

Will be tragically comic when next season the master of the Barca system arrives at City and IF Martinez is still in a job by then - pep absolutely exposes this Fake Barca light system and City hamer us everywhere

Think honestly that is what it is going to take for it to get through to some people that we have badly tried to emulate a syatem Barca used 10 years ago, without key ingredients such as pressing heavily to win possesion back and playing with width to spread teams out - and havign an amazing level of fitness, even more tragic is that that system itself ended up being figured out before Martinez ever even arrived here - which is why Barca themselves, bayern udner Pep use a heavily modfied and updated version of the original.

martinez is an emulator - and a bad one at that, a relic stuck watching ten year old Barca games against teams terrifed of them without ever realising that we aren't them and this isn't 2006

CM - Axel Witsel, one year left, peak age for a midfielder, played about 4 years in Russia so guaranteed that the money matters as much as does playing CL etc to him, bit of a tit apparently but a top top quality centre mid, will be honest next to no chance of getting him with the current manager i reckon - with a 'name' manager well within reach

Interesting that a lot of the heart of that Spurs team where bought by AVB as well - in the much lambasted 'wasting' of the Bale money and the season before when they reckoned they spent big knowing Bale wouold go the season after
Chadli, Lamela, Loris, Dembele, Erikson, Vertonghen all bought by AVB - a manager who is routinely criticised for player purchases...
I was thinking the same thing earlier mate.
AVB next gaffa?!

Well at the moment we aren't because confidence is low.
And it has never been to the level of barca.

That said, the style of us at our best with the ball is very much in the mould of Barca.

Why does anyone care about signings?

Our squad gets better every year and we get worse.

It's why I can't get excited about this summer /next season which is a shame. You just know no matter what happens we'll be bottom half playing crap football. Sadly it's another season at least of gutter ball before any change comes around.

Well there's also several letters that appear in both teams' names...

Agreed with the post though, well put - he wants to try and emulate a style of play without actually looking at what makes it function well, it would seem. The Barca way without pressing and movement (and not having 2 defensive mids) is useless, and we have neither.

What we need is a leader , a John Terry or ,it pains me to say it, a Steven Gerrard, but most of all a Roy Keane.
We have many fine players, but no natural leaders.
Jagielka is a great defender , a nice guy and a reasonable catain , but is not a great leader.
Barry, because of his age and experience has some leadership qualities but again is not a born leader.

More than anything, or any player for a particular position we need a leader on the field.

Hes trying to play like Barca, but instead of playing 4-3-3, like Barca, he plays Tom Cleverley and Arouna Kone in the Neymar role.

Shape, pressing, movement, intensity, attacking intent - nothing like Barca, even at our best.

It will never, ever reach Barca, as the foundations are not there for it, the philosophy is completely wrong - we don't press, which is, as Pep himself has said before, one of, if not the most important thing in this style of play, we play 2 DM's and rely on fullbacks, which Barca do not do, and even they seem to practice defending and those useless set piece things Martinez admits he finds useless.

Done well over here in Russia - but isn't liked by the fans (even of Zenit) or media - turned them into winners but seen a fair few of their games and sometimes they drive you crazy - scoring early and going ultra defensive vs mediocre teams to secure the result etc.

not sure how he'd go down here honestly mate, good manager - gets results, but makes Mourinho look gung ho, have to say i switched a few of their games off last season out of sheer boredom at seeing them kill a game at 1-0 with a half left

Funny thing is when he has let them open up Zenit last year absolutely looked ten times better and smashed some team all over the shop

Improvement over Martinez, but think we can get someone in who fits the club better as well

Which is why ive been banging on all season about my 4-3-3

Robles
Coleman - Stones - Jags - Baines
McCarthy
Besic - Barkley
Geri---Lukaku --- Mirallas
That team would have pissed the league.

It wouldn't though, no formation we put out would, as the preparation would still be crap, the team would still be unfit, we'd still be playing 952 passes round the back before trying to move forward, and the defensive organisation would still be crap.

We aren't spending 100 million this summer. How on earth do people think this?

Last summer we spent less than 20! I'd say 30 million guaranteed , perhaps a little bit more serves a good transfer budget for us from the new owner. He isn't plowing 100 million into the squad, where's the additional 80 million suddenly coming from if its not the owners pocket?

And we certainly won't be signing some of the names mentioned on a regular basis in this thread if as is looking increasingly likely we finish bottom half of the table, unless of course a change is made somewhere!

In order for us to play that formation, we would need to get in a proper manager, somebody who didnt buy their coaching badges from the Internet, somebody who KNOWS football and has studied the English game pre-PL and during the PL, somebody with an indepth knowledge of football and Everton football club from birth.

In short, im free Fahrad, I can start today.
