Everton Transfer Thread - Summer 2020

Been a bit out the loop - why would FFP not be a restriction?

As things stand this is still an ongoing saga in regards to Manchester City:

'While stems such as FFP may indeed restrict competition, and may be illegal'

Now if this is the case, and the industry is losing billions in revenue, why wouldn't they slacken these rules.

The other option is keep the 2 big red machines happy. Two clubs that are hedge funded and thus rely heavily on tv and sponsorship income. This is all uncertain as the global economy tanks, sponsors pull out and the armchair fan may be forced away from SKY.

The money men who run the game will not want this.

Then you have Mansours at City.
And USM at Everton.

Two financial powerhouses who could steady the ship. At the expense of their tv favourites.

They will not be able to maintain the status quo the longer this virus grips the world.

That's quite a revision down from "best defender in the league" as per the post above.

I'm going to be VERY candid. I don't think he was better than Distin, Yobo, Lescott or - and this might shock you - Stones.

Or possibly even Yerry Mina either.

I assume we all loved jags at his best as he was solid and dependable and occasionally outstanding, however he is a very modern Everton “great”. I have as much great memories of him as those memories where I stressed out with every ball that went over his head and was bouncing in the space between him and the goal as I was expecting him to mess up. In other situations though you’d back him every time.

For a player who also played up the field he also wasn’t great on the ball but you could possibly blame that on his manager who preferred % football.

and not much cop as a visible game/ref influencing captain either.

id take that same player back now though over what we’ve watched oer the last few years.

Why are people saying anything about Coutinho? He wouldn't come here and I really don't think he's even all that good. Flashes of brilliance but so was Barkley.

I think it’s more we think we can maybe get players who a year ago were out off reach but we’ve got Carlo and anything is possible.

It might not be Coutinho but am being positive and thinking we might get a game changer

Honestly have no idea what Barcelona was thinking with Coutinho, he had 4-5 EXCELLENT games a season and the rest he was average. He was a Spanish version of Ross Barkley.

But I agree wholeheatidly with the game changer, it just really isn't that ex-Liverpool lad and never was.

Even worse if you go back and look is they thought he could be a replacement for Iniesta despite never actually doing any of the same things. It never made sense.

Sure it is all crapola, but this seems to be the most common chatter
Left side: Everton, Lozano
Right side: James R, Ikone, Under
CM: Allan, Santamaria, Pellegrini, Roca
CB: Gabriel, Kumballa
ST: Belotti, Edouarde

Mind you we will likely sign a sum total of zero of these, though the Everton, Gabriel and Allan rumors have been persistent.

We’re not signing Coutinho. He is also crap. Scores 7 great goals a season which gets the pundits and MotD jizzing over him ignoring how he contributes nothing else. The ultimate highlights player it’s no surprise Liverpool got 10x better the second they replaced him with an actual midfielder. The greatest deal in football history that.

I know people will laugh but.... joe Hart as back up for Pickford? Contracts ending in the summer and we need a back up keeper who can challenge
The goalkeeper coach would want the same wage as Ancelotti

Imagine having to work with them 2 you’d lose your mind
