Chelsea have just spent more than that on one player. Nothing said.
There is this perception that we're repeating old mistakes. Everton spending hundreds of millions on average players again - ruining the transfer market.. At some point that narrative has to change but it won't change until we do something about it.

I was thinking this re Moise Kean as well. This lad from Wolves is a similar age and they've paid 10m for him. You can get your bottom dollar though, if he scores 2 league goals this season he won't be called a flop.

To be fair, this fella in this article this morning is saying exactly the same thing as Marcotti which is a concern for me. There was also a respected journalist tweeting the other day that Napoli’s midfield got completely overrun with Ancelotti‘s 442 with Allan at the heart of that midfield as Napoli never had a defensive midfielder alongside him. All seem to be saying the same thing.

If Ancelotti goes with his preferred 442 formation here, who is the defensive midfielder we have that will sit alongside Allan? We simply don’t have one! Neither Gomes or Doucoure are that player. In fact, Doucoure seems to play the exact box to box role at Allan. Mentions of knee injuries and fitness issues creeping in and a general decline in his performances alongside the “past his prime” stuff has taken the shine off this signing for me.

Maybe some people’s age concerns on here of our recruitment this time were justified.

That doesnt make sense to me.

Allan was box to box under Sarri. He wss then DM under Ancelotti next to Fabian Ruiz.

Not quite sure why a DM would need another DM next to them?

So for all the "past his prime and Napoli are better without him" narrative, the writer admits his PSG transfer may also have an influence...and that Don Carlo knows how to get the best out of players.

Allans house was broken into while his mrs was pregnant. He also had only just been refused the PSG move and the 'ultras' were going mental.

Was expecting Doucouré today for sure, still don’t know what to expect with James. They’re certainly cooking up something in the social media/marketing team that’s for sure
