Everton Transfer Thread - Summer 2020

Allan is seen as a warrior in Italy...proper up + down player and definitely not soft.

For me its the Italian leagues 2020 version of a Roy Keane type player.

A year or two ago we would have had to pay £60mil+ for him.

The question mark is going to be on his age and adaptability. If Ancelotti wants him then he'll he confident that he can adapt + then i suppose its whether you would want a 29 year old Keane on a 5 year deal.

I think he'd walk into our midfield and be seen as one of the best in the league after 6 months.

I dont think he solves out centre midfield problem though as he would be playing next to:

Gomes - Inconsistent
Gbamin - Who knows
Davies - Average
Delph - awful

I still think we should be after Tonali from Brescia. In fact I could see him and Allan being a perfectly balanced central midfield pair.

Yes I think he is well suited to playing in a midfield 2. Oddly I think Gomes is as well. It's a role that sort of suits an "allrounder" more than a player with specific skills. You have to be able to do a bit of everything so in a lot of ways it's harder to play. I watched Hutchinson the other night against Sunderland, and he tackles, starts play from deep, runs beyond the forwards, assists etc, you had to be able to do a bit of everything really.

Would you really put him as one of the best in the league? Is that how highly you would rate him? I mean I've only really seen him against Liverpool, and he always acquitted himself well in those games, though it's probably fair to say midfield is their weakest area. I'm not sure if he would be the best in the league though?

My the age thing, I think this is being pushed by Ancelotti. I think he wants a player who he feels would be physically able to adapt and mentally mature enough to make an impression from day 1. Allan fits that paradigm. Brands will continue to recruit younger players, but at times your manager should be to make a signing if it's essential.

As for the contract, I wouldn't worry so much the length. We will be able to sustain wages all the time he's performing well. We also won't be selling on for a profit. I've seen 100k per week salary which is obviously sizeable but not game changing. I suspect a 3 year deal with an option may be the way we go. It can be reviewed as he approaches the end of it.

But that is caused because of the intensity that the PL has... and also quality strikers are the ones that takes advantage of those mistakes

It’s also caused by corrupt goalies getting paid off to matchfix and throw the balls in their net or dive over them against certain teams. Absolutely zero reason why the error rate amongst prem goalkeepers should be massively different from other leagues.

I think Edouard would be a really good signing. I worry about Kean though who will need game time. Maybe Richarlinson plays off the flank a bit.

Its crossed my mind mate, but i think if you have real ambition you have to be prepared to have very good players who wont play every game. In that context you have to have a base line standard and young players have to hit it to progress. I think we have been programmed a bit at Everton into having one main striker and a bit part back up, its different at CL clubs, i see absolutely nothing wrong with having three really top prospects up front especially if we play with two, and you aspire for Europe and runs in the cup while competing in the PL. He might also enable a 4-3-3 at times, kind of like how Utd set up. We are down a body with Niasse and anything could happen with Sandro, but it wont be here.

Edouard is a good investment. Ive seen him a lot, he has a broad skill set, he can finish, hes powerful, he can play the British style, is aggressive, he has pace, but more importantly he can create and assist he is a clever player balancing that out with goals. He can also play upfront on his own and of the shoulder. Thats a skill set that would be useful to have in our squad and hes is still developing, he still has terrific potential.

Is he essential probably not, is he ripe for the picking absolutely. I wouldn't be surprised to see him at Leicester or Arsenal though.

I doubt we will be in for soares. Can’t see us buying a left winger this season

I actually think its one of our most vital positions.

Ancelotti doesnt trust Bernard in away games (so basically half of the season) and he barely plays Iwobi who was signed more for Silva's 4-2-3-1 / 4-3-3 formations.

You could argue he trusts Walcott on the RW more than either of his current LW options.

We need another right winger because as soon as Walcott isn’t playing Siggurdson seems to get put out there. Ancelloti seems to like one of his wingers to come inside and the other to stay wide. Bernard and Iwobi just haven’t performed the former and Walcott kept missing games.

Aye which is why personally I think we'll sign a LW (likely Everton Soares from what im hearing) and play Richarlison back out on the RW with a proper out and out CF being signed to play up top with DCL.

The Edouard rumours dont seem to be going away either.

He was excellent for England in the world cup. He just hasn't recovered since his Anfield mistake.
I also think you need a commanding goalkeeper.
If a player hasn’t recovered from one single mistake after about a year then I don’t want him anywhere near that team.

I don’t think that’s the reason he’s gone crap though, I just think he was always pretty poor.

I thought he was a top quality goalkeeper when we first signed him and he had a really good first season.

Don't see the point in that, the player himself has said he does'nt want to play on the wing he wants to play upfront, he plays upfront for his national team and it's clearly his best position. You seem obsessed with him playing as a winger which is a waste of a player imo. We should be looking at a 4-3-1-2 formation going forward.

Carlo picks the team mate not Richarlison.

We havent been linked with any RW players but quite a few CF's.

Simply put Richarlison is a player who tracks back, helps the RB/LB out, can cut inside/ drift out wide & score goals whilst being able to make runs into the box.

If we sign another CF there is every chance Ancelotti will play him back out wide as he's a very potent weapon anywhere up front.

Lets not forget he only played up to because our CF options are ABYSMAL

Niasse LOL
Tosun LOL
DCL pre purple patch LOL
Kean 1 goal in 27 odd games LOL

Simply put we dont know what Carlo has in mind but right now I think there is every chance Rich will be out wide next season with a LW and CF coming in.

I agree about Bernard and iwobi and it wouldn’t surprise me if one of them is moved on.

But I can see a grealish type, playing off the left who’s, more of a midfielder than a winger. And having a more advanced player on the right. Or vise versa depending on who’s available. I think they definitely want another goal threat out wide. Something, Walcott, iwobi and Bernard dont offer.

Going off his Napoli team, I doubt he will ever set up in a 442. With 2 out and out wingers.

But we don't need a LW or a CF that's the whole point, we need a RW. If he wanted to do that he could have done so this season and actually blooded Kean in properly. Tbh i am just going to wait and see what happens i am not thrilled by any of the names we are being linked with at the moment.
