I think Hamez is a wonderful player, but hes very injury prone and buying him to play on the wing is a horrific idea.

I watched Grealish a few times this season, some games he was head and shoulders above everybody, some games he went utterly AWOL, im not sure hes worth 60m and for me we need somebody less lazy on the defensive side.

But to state again, I think both players are wonderfully talented, just not quite worth the outlay needed to acquire.
James played 7 league games out of 25 this season, not sure how fit he was, but we all know zidane doesn’t want him at the club.

Previous 5 seasons, 3 Madrid 2 Bayern. 120 out of 182. Roughly 70% and we don’t know how many of the other 30% he was available for. So I wouldn’t call him very injury prone.

If we can get him a lot cheaper and do a smaller salary with an appearances based bonus, it might be worth the risk.

I think he’s going into the final year of his contract so could be cheap. If we could afford wages for him to be a squad player then yes, but I don’t see him being a starter that could take us up the league. He’s just another Phil Jones type, not good enough at CB but physical enough in CM to be carried by better players. He can score a pen though...
Swerve. I know 2 lads who are spurs fans and they don’t want him anywhere near their first 11. So he shouldn’t be anywhere near ours. Also knowing Levy, we’d have to pay over the odds to get him.

This year you're right it's been mostly down to Zidane not wanting him. Down the years though he has been one to get nagging injuries. He probably missed about 5 or so league matches a season because of it. For me it wouldn't be enough to put off buying him but it is a factor to consider.

James Rodriguez would be an incredible player to sign for the right figure ;-) His 28, huge experience, very intelligent player and has played in leagues where it can get rough similar to Priemier League ;-) Columbia, Argentina, France, Germany and Spain ;-) He would have great merchandise potential too ;-) especially for American market ;-) Everyone who watchs football knows who James Rodriguez is ;-) Wage wise a good deal could be arranged and for signing young kids to our academy etc , imagine going to meet a 16 or 17 yr old kid and parents and tell them Mr. Ancelloti will ensure your son is mentored by James Rodriguez?

Good thing Brands is still in charge
But he remit will be to get the deals sorted not identify players. We really are in trouble if Ancelotti can’t bring the players he wants to this club. Let’s face it, even brands isn’t going to tell Ancelotti who he should go for.

We are in real trouble if we allow another manager to dictate to the DoF which players to sign.

As proven when we allowed Koeman input.

Carlo will have some players in mind, 1s he worked with and players he will feel can improve us, no doubt he will suggest them to Brands and then its up to both of them to decide if they are what we need. And Brands will do the same with players he thinks he can improve us, between them both they will try and do whats best for the club.

At the end of the day its Brands job to improve the squad, he wont be doing that alone, he has an army of scouts, data nerds and no doubt he will offer his ear to Carlo.

For me the buck stops with Brands regarding recruitment, good and bad.

He will be. The DOF does the transfers. Carlo gets a say but Brands is the main man and hopefully he sets it straight that we aren't in position to go for someone like Allan, as an example.

It wouldnt make sense to sell Gana and then replace him with a player the same age for the same money.

Of course I have no idea whatsoever if Allan is any good at all.

I actually think he is but so is Cavani and I don't think many would be interested in bringing him in.
