Everton Transfer Thread - Summer 2020

Exactly.

Fair enough to them, they're doing a job on most teams.

However if they do it again next season then we can hold our hands up and say well played truly.
Which historically doesn’t happen, Wolves did it but they’re one of the richest teams in the league so were able to buy their loan players and also acquire better ones through their agent connections. For everyone else it’s just not viable.

God when will people stop saying this. Like it or not Ancelotti came here because he was running out of options. It wasn't totally fair to him, but he had left Real Madrid, Bayern and Napoli with the board/owners unhappy with him. He came here because we gave him a reasonable chance at success and we were ready to do it. It was unbelievably perfect coming together of circumstances.

So while yes, most people didn't think we would get Carlo there was very good reason for that. And the same is true when they say it about a lot of these players, because the perfect mix is just unlikely to happen.

I would leave any club in world football to manage or play for Everton.

They are the pinnacle for me.

You can only ever put 11 players on the pitch. Manchester City have proven that a domino effect is possible once one or two world class player commit to the cause.

Coutinho being linked with Everton but I think he will end up at Newcastle if take over goes through

They'll be in the same position as us when we got the Moshiri money first off. No player will snub offers at the biggest clubs to join a 'project' which we found out through Witsel and Mata etc. They've not even got much history.

As for us, 3-4 solid first time players should be priority rather than quantity this Summer.

Man City pay better than any club in the world and they reached that point very early in the process. That's why Tevez went for example. We don't do that.

Running out of options, ha ha brilliant that.

The Italian media were saying he’s never joining us, he’s heading to Canada to spend Christmas with his wife. And will wait till the summer, when he will have plenty of options.

But guess what, he dropped all the join a club just outside the relegation zone, was that really a last option for a man of his calibre, come on.

Madrid, plenty of successful mangers get sacked there, it’s the way it is.

Napoli is a basket case of a club and look at them
Now, I’m sure they are regretting sacking him.

Bayern?

He could have gone to Arsenal and whether we like or not they are a bigger club than us. And he loves London, lived there before, he will go to Arsenal, they said.
No he didn’t.
Arsenal didn't want him. I know there were media links, but they didn't want him.

Honestly go through the clubs that are better than us currently and try to figure out which would have gone for him.

I'd say in England maybe United if they got fed up with Ole but that looks like it wouldn't have been this summer. Germany everyone is set. Spain maybe Barca but I have to think they'd not be interested. He's not their style and he's got the Madrid connection. PSG is good and he was there already. Italy it's basically does Milan want to try and rekindle the magic and we're in the same spot they were.

I genuinely struggle to see where Carlo would go that is a better option than here. With some of these names linked to us, Bale, Coutinho, James and the like, that also has to be true and it probably won't be.

You're supposed to be an Everton fan mate, we have a better boss than all of arsenal, Chelsea and United yet you seem weirdly against that.

I know why didn't we just stick to our plucky little Everton status and hire moyes or eddie Howe.

But seriously you think Carlo Ancelotti had no options in world football except us. Wow.

No I love it. I'm against the idea that this is a sign that we suddenly are an attractive prospect to top players when decades of evidence says we aren't.

Yes our manager is awesome, but we still need to be smart and have a plan with how to build the team or it will go sideways. Signing 29 year old midfielders to 5 year contracts isn't it.

You tell me what they were then. His options were a similar level club in Italy like Lazio or whatever. And they pay worse and have less resources.

Ancelotti could probably get 99% of clubs in world football with a phone call. Neither me nor you know who was interested in Ancelotti or who didn't fancy him, but his pedigree is among the top 5 managers in the world easy.

I think you should word it "That we were his best option", rather than he had no options.
Sure. He had no CL clubs chasing him other than maybe a borderline one in Italy.

And it was no options when we did it. If we waited until the end of the year it very well could have been different. Which is what I mean when I say the circumstances were perfect.

And I can guarantee you that the elite clubs that are better than us were all uninterested. I mean Napoli is already a step down for him from before. His stock was low. It doesn't make him a bad manager, it just makes it possible for us to get him.

I mean you don’t know any of this as fact what you mean to say is “in my opinion”.
