Imagine signing sidibe and putting iwobi in front of him. So many broken down plays, we would be laughed out of the top 6. Richarlison would be gone next chance he gets if it keeps up.

Hasn’t shown he is up to the task and let’s face it at his age, he’s hardly going to get better. I’d prefer we invest in a younger player that we can develop as I don’t think Brands sees JJK as the solution.

No, I don’t agree Gomes pulls out performances “that bad” and “0/10” semi regularly.

I can think of two off the top of my head in like his last 20 starts.

Edit: Actually I checked. It's twice in his last 13 games.

Without getting into arbitrary numeric values he was genuinely terrible against Fulham at the end of last year (and should have been sent off because he couldn't hold his temper) and Villa away this year. Go check the match threads if you don't believe me.

And I know there are other examples. I just don't feel like thinking about it.

Gomes is obviously a big part of our team because we've seen the drop off without him, but ultimately he isn't playing for a CL team because in a given set of 10 games he plays fine in 7, has 1 or 2 belters, and is woeful in the others.

None of that is stats?

No, what I'm saying is it is a bad way of looking at it. Everyone has bad games, but even Sidibe's good games he struggles to position himself defensively. It's better to look at it as a whole than to say "Well Sidibe lost his man repeatedly against Arsenal so we shouldn't sign him."
