I disagree. Utd are crap. They’re a team low on confidence with too many prima donnas. If you go after them like Brentford did, they fall apart. We had the perfect chance to do what Brentford did when we went 1-0 up, but instead we back pedalled. It was our own fault we lost!
United aren’t crap though. They’ve genuinely never been crap. They underachieve to the level that they should be at but that doesn’t make them bad. At absolute worst they’ve been consistently one of the 6 best sides in the league for the past 3 decades, that’s not crap. They also came into this on relatively good form outside of 2 major losses.

For example the way people talk you’d think Maguire is comfortably the worst CB in the league when the actual reality is he’s just not good enough for United or probably a team pushing for Europe maybe, that’s not total crap though, Michael Keane is the defender that is being described when people talk about Maguire.

Anyway back to the point, I think we’ll certainly get points against the top 6 this season, like we have already, but I’m not having anyone say that they’re crap or anything like that because United, Chelsea and Liverpool have all been in crisis various times this season but even then they’re still among the best teams in the league, to deny that is a disservice to our players when they’ve performed as good as some of those teams so far.

We’re a crap team that’s getting better over time, the likes of United are a very good team that underachieve. I mean ffs this alone will give the perspective, we brought Rondon off the bench who’s scored 36 goals in his entire PL career, they brought Ronaldo off the bench who scored his 700th goal against us.

That result in thr grand scheme of things is about right, firstly united have players who if you let them play they hurt you and they did, today not one player in blue can say they did anything well over the 90, we get a goal up and then instead of keeping with momentum we just sit off. United have players in the middle who can move the ball about but if we kept with the pressure I think we would of been ok but it felt like the l reality of where we are kicked in. Just try and get a point from these 2 aways and then touch wood beay palace, it won’t be pretty this season but I still think mid table is where we are given the crap we’ve had to fix up.
Good points
I saw our fledgling totally out bossed by 3 World Class midfielders in the 1st half.
But I saw enough character in the 2nd half to think they can & will learn from it.
In reality we where undone by 2 mistakes from arguably our 2 best players this season.

There will by other defeats this season no doubt.
Just emphasises we are a work in progress.

We where also a Top draw save from DeGea and 2 free Onana headers away from a draw or even a win.
So not too downhearted.

The worst we have played all season, awful in possession, that is down to the mindset of the players, the bottle went when we went 1-0 up.
We should have really went for it then against a utd team low on confidence after last week against City, but no we sat back and basically gave them a comfortable win, as we huffed and puffed but offer nothing in the final 3rd.

Also Coleman needs to retire it is becoming embarrassing for the lad

Positives:
- impressed with Garner’s cameo
- good to have Dom back.
- Iwobi’s finish
- finally building a head of steam for the last 5 minutes.

Negatives;
- the midfield 3 today was the poorest it’s been all season. Sloppy in possession and not showing for the ball enough. They were responsible for both goals. Gana has cost us 2 goals in 2 games now by giving the ball away in dangerous areas.
- felt like we gave them way too much respect and backed off, allowing them to have way too much of the ball without any real pressure for the first hour.
- Thought Gordon was well off the pace today and was probably lucky not to be subbed sooner.

Poor today and no dressing it up as any different, Utd were also very good, certainly the best they have played for a while. 2 mistakes by Gana and Iwobi (I’ll let him off for his wonderful finis) and they score twice although they could of had more which is concerning. There is no outlet up front to hold on to the ball, to relieve the pressure, to let us set ourselves again.. Gordon had a shocker but he is young so it’s to be expected (reign it in you frothing monsters).
I‘m taking this as the kick in the balls it should be, we aren’t great but we will be relegation worry free this season.

What I would also say as a positive, I think last season that game ends up being a 4/5-1

'United are crap though'

Look, I'm disappointed in the team tonight, but this is just nonsense. They've easily been a top 5/6 level side this season.. beaten Arsenal & Liverpool for starters. There's no shame in losing to them.. I'm just peeved that we were nowhere near their level tonight given our recent form.

Still TONS of work to do, evidently.
Wow what a level headed appraisal.

Sure you don't want to call all our players shabite and suggest we are going down?

Disappointed we lost and played so poorly given the brilliant start we had but it shows how far we have come from last season that we aren't happy after losing to Man U. Tough few games coming up so it may be a grumpy place in a few weeks time but we look miles better than last season even when we aren't as good as we can be.

i think that lampard made the right changes in the right time. he can not play with 4 forwards for more than 10 minutes otherwise we will concede goals from counter-attacks.
No height upfront or anyone being able to hold on the ball done us, wasn't asking him to lash on 4 forwards.

Sorry but I can't comprehend your viewpoint here.

What's to comprehend?

We've improved on last season but we're still not that good

This season is about consolidating our place in the league ahead of more squad adjustment in the summer

We're in for a potentially arduous 2-3 years I think until we get where we want to be

14th this season is about par for the course

Also aided by awful officiating that would refuse to book united players first half, or chronically only flag them offside after putting the ball in the net, or forcing a defence to make goal saving blocks to boost Uniteds confidence.
