The squad we currently have is an average mid table squad. Only have to look at the starting team and the bench today to see that. Only Allan missing. I've resigned myself to this to try and avoid defeats like today ruining the weekend.

Why did we not concentrate on complaining to the ref about the constant bad fouling by Newcastle, we need to be more cynical
Shelvey and Lascelles should have been red carded, we need to be more vocal and demonstrative

Unfortunately we haven't got that killer instinct in us. We are just too nice. Any team with a winning mentalitity would have been straight over to the ref that first tackle by Shelvey where he grabbed the neck of Rodriguez.

Its all very well having togetherness when its going well, but when you've got to roll your sleeves up because the oppositions tactics are to try and take your best player out of the game you've got to stand up to it and your better football will shine through once you've won your individual battles.

They won every single battle today. A dreadful performance because the attitude and commitment were severely lacking.

I think this is connected to our captain. I love Seamus, and he's a great captain -by - example but we need something more. There was enough experience on the pitch today for someone to show fight, no? I can't handle cool / calm / well-behaved captains now, we need someone with fight and spirit, who protects Richarlison, Picks up Pickford, fights for the fouls, shouts at the midfield to close down, puts his arm around DCL, Davies and Richy etc etc...I think the captain role is underrated. Very important.

Because we lack a true captain on the field, a captain who referees will be more likely to listen to than they do Seamus, and especially Sigurdsson.

Be interesting to see result of West Ham v Liverpool tomorrow....wonder could Moyes have sorted out the current lack of attitude of some of our players

James was our best player, he had a hard game due to being kicked and having little movement from the team for him to pick out passes.

What, Mr underachievement having more influence than Carlo? Give over mate we want to go forward not back to the days of plucky Everton knowing their rightful place behind the sky super 6. I'd much rather be here than there, even though today was torture.
