A most welcome win. But can Silva now build on that? Who knows?
He doesn't seem to be able to string a few wins together. It's time that he did.

Agree with most on this site that our plodders (Siggy...Coleman...Sniederlin...Keane....even Delph) all slow the team down.
We need pace. We need to stick with pace.
Tom Davies should be brought back. Iwobi in the middle. Tosun deserves a game. And maybe Kean needs a few games with the under 23s. Build some confidence.
Spurs can be got at this season. We need to step up. Can we?
That's the thing. What's the point in qualifying for Europe so we can lose at weekends and during the week?
Should we somehow manage to qualify for europe . We then build a proper squad. Two players for every position. (Not give stupid extensions to has beens). Blood ...promote some of our talented youngsters.
Silva needs to start trusting them. promote
We offload the deadwood.
We rotate.
We get super fit. We get a plan A. A plan B. And when needed a plan C.
We adapt.
Here's hoping that we can win silverware this season. But with Silvas awful record. I doubt very much that we will.

A win is a win. Not pretty. And as usual with Silvas Everton teams, there is plenty to work on. We need to be tighter and better. We need to start learning from those sloppy defeats. We need to stop the rot.
Maybe someday soon the woodwork won't save the opposition. A few shots might just sneak in.
A ref might give us a penalty. And we might just win a few more football matches. Better form will bring better luck.

Anyhow we are in the hat for tomorrow's draw. Here's hoping we get a home draw. And against Oxford. And then who knows.
Maybe by then we have played ourselves into some sort of form.
Ps.....is Brock still at Oxford. (Joke).

Torn between Walcott and Holgate. Don't think we win if Walcott doesn't come on. We were soooo slooow and turgid until he started running at them and stretching the defenders out of shape. No one has cursed him out more than I have, his finishing is terrible, but he has pace which we desperately need and more importantly he looks like he has some urgency which we need even more.

But Holgate was solid defensively, looked good on the ball, seemed in control - and it's his first goal for the club so he gets it.

Keane and Zouma did well last year as a CB pair with one big guy good in the air and one pacy guy, good on the ball. Keane doesn't seem as good paired with Mina, he's the same type of CB but not as good or physically dominant. I think Holgate might be ready and a Holgate/Mina pairing could be very good.

Digne comfortably MOM for me. He's so consistently good, fans seem to take him for granted at times.

Digne is great. But unless we bring in a good striker in January and begin scoring and playing well, I can see him leaving us next summer with a big club making an offer that moshri cannot refuse and Digne being more than happy to go.

Regarding kean.. For whatever reason, silva has decided that kean has no future at the club and and seems to be trying is hardest to crush keans morale by not playing him, playing him out of position, and last night subbing him off at half time (and this in a team which is not scoring goals).
