Ugh. Iwobi, I guess. But Id rather stick red hot pokers in my eyes than watch the turgid excuse for football we pay right now. Absolutely awful, just awful.

And yay, we are in the hat. Will get drawn at Anfield or Etihad, and get beat 8-0 next.

The life of an Evertonian.

I wouldn't give Digne MOTM and I'm a little irked with how he plays and how we use him.

We go to him on the attack so often, and he always swings in crosses. He's skilled to keep the ball on the floor and/or dribble, and we have guys up front who can play like that. I'd like to see him cut inside or get to the goal line more, rather than send crosses to the opposing RB all the time.

Surprised with the Iwobi shouts as I thought he was awful in the first half. Made up for it a bit in the second but his first half showing was shocking. Great to see Tosun get some gametime and create Richarlisons goal. Bad management with Mina and Kean.

...made hard work of it, but the important thing was getting through. A lacklustre first half during which we never looked liked getting behind either full back. The half-time substitution was correct. Better 2nd half with the tempo increased, their goalkeeper much busier.

Mina was terrific, he’s looking the real leader and effective defender I always thought he’d be. His knee injury is a concern. Despite a poor start, Iwobi probed and looked most likely to unlock their defence. Gomes and Delph were fine.

I went for Holgate as my MoM, he was adequate defensively but he’s competitive and plays like the game matters. I admit to not being his biggest fan and I doubt he’ll ever be a regular first teamer but the game will probably be best remembered for his first Everton goal.

Much better second half (from a low base, obvs). Forgetting the first half, when pretty much everyone was toilet, it was a toss up between Iwobi & Holgate for MOM for me - gave it to the latter.

Holgate’s pace at the back is what stands out most. Him and Mina deserve a run together if Yerry can shake off the injury.
