Wondering if Martinez may have changed shape for the last 15-20 mins maybe bring on JH for Ossie, Kone for Jela and Vic for Kev and try the 3-5-2?. Not a criticism just a thought.

Something is missing, definitely. I personally feel that there are deals to be done to freshen things up and change things a little.

If United offer anything close to the 40 million for Baines and Fellaini, I hope we sell and give the manager all the funds to re-invest and see what he can do in the market.

Baines hasn't done it now for a long time. Not questioning his effort, but he hasn't lived up to his very high standards he set in the first half of last season.

Was that just a real purple patch? He's still good don't get me wrong, but 15-20 million good? I'd sell.

Martinez needs to have his team **** this left right backwards forwards left right backwards passing right off immediately. What's the point of playing it in a triangle if the ball ends up with the person who first had it in exactly the same amount of space as when he first released the ball? Also the fannying around on the edge of the box needs to be turned into shots or through balls, lost count over the past two games how often we tried to tip-tap it between players on the 18-yard line only to mis-pass it or have it nicked off of us.

Its called keeping hold of the ball, You know so the other team doesn't have it

You would be the same type of idiot who moaned when we hoofed it from the back to Vic/Jela/Felly for 90mins

To put the league into context right now:

Arsenal were piss poor on the opening day and deservedly lost to Villa at home. Today in the early kick off they played Fulham off the park at the cottage, playing exactly the way they should be playing and weren't short on real effort by any stretch. They are now above us in the league with more points, a level GD, and more goals scored..

I'd rather have started the way Arsenal have, truth be told. We'd actually move up the league then..

ALARDYCE IN!

Mirallas is one of those players where all he does is attack non-stop, meaning he is going screw up most of the time but also he is the only player we have who can single-handily win a game. For me as long as he is trying and is only giving the ball away in the attacking third I will be satisfied.

Don't think Osman was that bad, he's playing much deeper and doesn't have a chest that could land comets so of course he isn't going to look very fashionable. He did his job, he wasn't stellar but he wasn't horrible.

Generally I think most of the players are looking decent with a few more standout performers (Felli, Coleman, Baines, Barkley). Whereas the end of last season I was thinking almost everyone looked poor nearly every game.

We haven't been able to score for the past few years, its not a new problem. What makes me hopeful is we've got a manager with fresh ideas, give him some time and maybe he can come up with something.

I though Ossie had a good game to be fair, dunno why he's being crucified already. He was brilliant last season, got the call up and two games in now he needs to be out of the team? He seems ok to me. I think Pienaar had a stinker, Distin too was bad as was Mirallas.
Its evident we lack a creative center midfielder who can open up play cos we keep going left and right and then lose the ball while attempting the perfect pass which is not happening.

You kidding?

Osman has been consistently poor since his England call-up. He NEEDS to be benched in favour of a better CM, but we don't have one yet. He would be better playing 25 games a season as opposed to starting 40.

Pienaar combined well with Baines repeatedly on the left, creating a number of crossing opportunities. Also linked up well with Felli and Barkley.

Distin is distinctly better than Jags. He was last season, he was last week and he was today.

Mirallas was poor, yes.

If we stick with a 4-2-3-1 we need someone playing through the centre who is prepared to take on a player and beat him, drawing fouls in the process. Mirallas is the only player in the entire SQUAD who can do that but he's not consistent and we need him on the right. This is why we need another RM, and have done since before we signed Mirallas. We missed a trick letting Norwich pick up Redmond.

Its the people saying Martinez is the problem thats getting my back up

Hes been here for less than 6 months and there's lads saying the way he has us playing is not working, HES PLAYED 2 GAMES FFS
I agree, but Norwich and WBA in the first two games is not the toughest of starts so two points from those games is not quite the start we were looking for and is a little disappointing.

You were always going to get the over the top nonsense though.

We are not in the same league as Arsenal in terms of players though, I would love to see them play like that with Jelavic/Kone up front and Osman in the middle

I thought we were on top of it first half, and Foster made 2 good saves.
Second half WBA sat back and played counter very well, Maloumbo in particular.
Well drilled side and disrupted our play superbly.
Reminded me of us vs Wigan last year

Our weakness in games like these is the 'osman' position - when ur camped in the opponent's half, you need a ball- playing mid, and osman didn't find space, pull defenders out of position, play the ball forwards into feet, ... I'm wondering why we don't try Pinaar more central there with Oviedo out wider? He cant be less effective, surely? Mirallas needs to be on the right, coz any time he's on the left, the ball goes onto his right foot and its inside or backwards - not half as effective as on the right. Pure comedy moments from Naismith, playing like a 12 year old. I know the poor sod is doing his best for the shirt, so there is a part of me that likes the guy too

Positives, Coleman and Barkley. It's taking shape but we need much more guile and bite in CM when attacking, and Ossie is not the answer.

...I thought Felli was good. Jelavic is just not up to this level. So many people think 'he's about to come right'...WRONG

I can understand the argument in starting him for the 1st few games. His game probably fits the system the best. He's probably the most talented striker we have. If he's 75% of what he was when we 1st got him then he'll get 15+ and we can leave Fellani back. However even though he is playing better this year I don't think he has shown enough to start over Kone A and Anichebe. I think tops he has 1-2 weeks to prove something before Bob has to end the expirment.

I am disappointed mate

But I also remember how many times Moyes had us playing like strangers at the start of a season and he had been in charge for years, Martinez has had 5 months
