We’ve competed against all of last seasons top 6 in all competitions, only the two Manc teams (twice but two out the 4 settled late on) and Chelsea have beaten us. We took 4 points off both Liverpool and Leicester, beat Spurs twice, beat Arsenal and Chelsea at home and drew at Old Trafford

We are gradually getting there but it was never going to be done in 18 months, there’s still too much clutter in the squad, but yet we’re minimal points off a European place, with 10 games left

You`ve reverted the top teams to the SKY 6 and Leicester, have you been brain washed by the media?

The top teams currently are Man City, Man Utd and Chelsea. Leicester aren`t in that bracket, I think they will fall away and the rest of the league is much of a much-ness. 2 defeats against City both by 2 goals and I expect the last game to go that way, beaten twice by Utd but a creditable draw at OT and beat a Lampard Chelsea before being turned over by Tuechels Chelsea which is an altogether different animal.

Granted we took 4 points from Leicester and Liverpool, and 3 from Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea BUT on the other side of the coin we have

Taken just 3 points from Southampton, Fulham, Leeds across 2 games
1 point from Burnley across 2 games
No points from West Ham but only played 1 game
No points from Newcastle across 2 games

Remaining fixtures are tough....... I`d say the next 2 are MUST WINS!

Palace at home, considering the way we have played against lower teams at home
Brighton away
Tottenham at home, does the fact weve beaten them twice already mean we roll these over? No and I`m sure they will be up for a bit of payback
Arsenal away, no idea how this will go. Depends what Everton and Arsenal turn up, probably 2 of the most inconsistent teams in the league.
Aton Villa away, they have the second best defensive record in the PL and look a threat going forward, they like us have good results but poor ones also.
West Ham away, we know what to expect from any Moyes side, just as capable of winning this one as losing it.
Sheff Utd at home, nailed on win! Surely?
Wolves at home, I fancy us to win this one. But I said that about other home defeats.
Man City away, party atmosphere at the Etihad with them collecting the trophy, possibly a few fanbs back by then. Everton are too nice we wouldn`t want to upset that. Nothing on it for them but will still roll us over fairly comfortably.

TBC Aston Villa at home, I worry about Aston Villa, with Grealish in the side they can mix it with any team in this league and play good football. Defensively strong and can score goals. They are 5 points back with a game in hand and we play them twice, lose one of them and we could concede a position. Lose to Arsenal and Spurs we could concede another 2 positions. That would leave us 10th from a season which promised so much....

Everton That!

I am reading it mate, I'm not rude. I have covered most points on injuries and squads being different I get that, I understand we aren't good enough to beat them 9 times out of ten but in a knockout game we should be having a go.
Fair enough but our opinions differ, don't want to look like I'm accepting mediocrity because I don't think I am. City have rolled over just about everyone this season. I thought we fought hard, but they are simply just better, look at their bench, it's infuriating. We did tail off in the second half, was it mentality, was it tiredness, they are bloody relentless. Maybe we would have been better with Rodriguez and Doucoure on, I don't know, but hopefully we get into Europe and buy better players and get rid of some of the deadwood in our squad.

We didnt roll over, but we were poor with the ball all game and lacked belief in crucial moments at the end.

The first goal we failed to track laportes run and the second goal was a nonsense - a clear foul.

Good teams win games late on but bad teams lose games late. We haven't won many points late all season because the players lack the right mentality.
So true. Was it Ashley cole who recently commented the we wont make europe because we dont work hard enough. I thought we worked yesterday but that's the min expected. All the teams above us have a harder working mentality. A more positive mentality. They do it week in week out. We dont .We switch on now and again and added to that we lack the quality to mix it with them.

We need minimum 5 wins to get Europe, we have a strong enough away record that we can take points from Arsenal, Villa, Brighton and West Ham. The break coupled with getting players fully rested that aren’t going to internationals (James, Keane, Mina, Pickford, Bernard, Allan, Olsen etc) should mean we have a stronger, healthier squad to take on Palace on Easter Monday

So what do you suggest, we sack Ancelotti or accept he has a huge job to get anywhere near the likes of City
Yeah mate, in all my posts all morning I have been saying sack ancelotti, every one of them. Wind your neck in. am just as entitled to voice my opinion as you, it is different to yours, deal with it.

lol Touched a nerve mush, you sound like an old woman jangling across the fence

For the first goal there were too many people ball watching when the original shot was taken, Gomes worst of all, because he stood on the edge of the box while the goal scorer ran by him. But for the second Mina wasn't brave enough for me. He went to attack the ball but when it came down to a choice between heading the ball clear and taking a hit, or half pulling out of the challenge so he wouldn't get hurt, he chose the latter.

take a chill pill folk - Everton when it comes to the crunch are almost ALWAYS found wanting, ALWAYS.

Who knocked Everton out of the league cup? Its obvious to everyone, well everyone who can see reasonably well that Everton don’t have enough quality to compete with the best and win things - it’s annoying but it’s the way it is.

I won’t mention all the deadwood - I mentioned all the players actually soon after (re) signed up here, it depends on what you want, if you are content to lounge around the middle of the table and fluke a trophy - depending on who you draw then you can probably get away with a squad like ours

However, if you really want to challenge at the upper echelons of the league and compete in the champions league - as Moshiri does, AND win trophies then the Everton squad is so bad it’s not even funny anymore - you only need to look at the sub bench they put out, for me Coleman, Sigs and Davies, probably Gomes also are sub material.

Gbamin needs to be sent for his rehab somewhere else, I want this Everton team to actually win something in my life time left on earth.

I reckon they need at least 6 high quality players to even get competitive and if they are not careful vultures will take Lewin and Rich off our hands

Really hard to figure Everton out this season you just don't know what you are going to get from one week to the next. Home defeats to the likes of Burnley and Fulham ect shouldn't be happening. They looked so good at the start of the season as they were able to get Calvert Lewin into goal scoring positions and now it seems th last few months he is dropping deeper and deeper to get on the ball.
We don't have the depth of squad you do. Who does?

We had all our players fit at the start of the season. Throughout the season we've had players out through injury and suspension. Key players like Pickford, Coleman, Digne, Holgate, Mina, Allan, Davies, Doucoure, James, Richarlison and Calvert-Lewin. James in particular is world class and he's probably missed half our games now. He's so influential for us. Unlike most teams (not including City here by the way) we don't make a fuss of it. We just get on with it. Even our fans don't have a tendency to make injuries an excuse, as a fanbase we would rather moan about our lack of squad.

Still, that doesn't fully explain our poor home form, in particular against unfancied teams. The players fielded should have been good enough to get results in those game.

we seem to be a little bit consistent in the sense that we lose 2 or 3, then go and win 2 or 3. We have Lost 2, won 3, lost 3 in that order just of the last 8 games, so hopefully we go on that winning run again
