The whole point of pressing is that winning the ball high up causes dangerous positions. The goal came because finally we won the ball in the Newcastle half and passed and dribbled forward without wasting any time. More of that.

I’m just disgraced at the refereeing. Was one of the most one sided refereeing performances I’ve seen in ages. Right from the kick off we barely got a fifty fifty go our way. They avoided yellows for kicking balls away numerous times, pulling shirts to stop breakaways etc. just seemed from the get go that Pawson wanted us not winning that game.

Need to post this before I forget but obviously after Allan got sent off the ref was getting some grief from the fans and some sections of the crowd were chanting that he was not fit to referee but it was only small pockets of the fan base mainly from gwladys street end I think. I remember literally before our goal something happened and the whole crowd were chanting at the ref that he was not fit to referee and everyone was singing it and it was the loudest it had been all night and then the very next attack we scored. If someone has a video of that moment from when we chanted that to us scoring that would be great.

I don’t quite understand their gripe with us, it’s been brewing for a quite a while. I’ve read a fair bit of it over the last few years I know a few Geordies and they’re sound , when I ask them about it they don’t get it either.

They are proper riled on their forums, they think they are the bee’s knee’s now. To be fair though there were a number of them that though Allan’s red was harsh.
