Everton Youth Teams Thread

Kenny hasnt 'made it' with us, Anichebe fair enough but i thought he was awful...

Vaughan a good shout in 2004...gutted about him

10 years before Unsworth took over...really been so limited in the past 7 years.
I'm certainly not going to argue about Kenny's quality but he has played 50 games for us which makes him stand out from the likes of Dowell, Pennington, Clarke, Beni, et al.

Plus the player disposed of - Bowler paid 5 million gave him to Blackpool - two good left backs one a USA international - there are probally more all not given a chance the Arsenal goalkeeper Virginia given away etc etc ....

Paid a bit for Lewis Gibson too didn't we? Was meant to be a top prospect.

We don't seem to be managing his development too well - last I read was he couldn't get in a squad for Sheffield Wednesday.

Anyone know how he's getting on?

[Edit] Ah. Injured;

No issue with Baxter being given a role If he is actually good at it/qualified and earned it on merit, after a thorough recruitment process.

If he's just been thrown a job as part of the OBN, as I suspect, then it's the usual rollocks from the club that needed to end about 20 years ago.

Bad injury (again) i think...

I actually think giving recently-retired players an apprenticeship in coaching is not as big an issue as promoting from within for important senior roles like has been done with the likes of Unsworth.

I agree, it's slightly more palatable than what we have done with the like of Unsworth etc, but it still doesn't sit right with me.

Unfortunately, this type of thing happens in all industries - football, and in particular, Everton, are no different, unfortunately.

People have always got jobs because of who they know, not what, but I have rarely seen it end well.

What are the chances that Jose Baxter is a good coach, let’s be honest? Just so happens to be a local lad, retired from football at about 26, beak head. Yeah I’m sure he’s got that job on merit.

well that and he actually might be a good football coach which no one on here knows either way.

OR -

Everton are letting an undeniable generational talent who couldn't make a career in football because of a bad attitude and terrible decisions run sessions with academy players hoping for a career in the game?

I guess it's important to people on this forum that getting the academy players to apply themselves correctly and not end up like Jose Baxter should fall to someone else, so long as they're in no way associated with the club.
