Everton Youth Teams Thread

I've read these clubs can't raid the continent for under-18 players anymore so they're intensifying their domestic activities.

Ethan Nwaneri has played in the same England youth teams with Samuels-Smith & Meghoma. Arsenal struggling to keep him apparently.

Sometimes I wonder with some of the lads if it’s not a lot down to being able to tell people “I play for Man City” and not “I play for Everton”

We've appointed a new head of academy recruitment from Wigan.

He will fill a glaring gap we've had since Martin Waldron left and he'll prove to be an excellent appointment.
About time but this is very promising. Gelhardt, Weir and Devine are all excellent prospects who they had before their club was gutted.

16 year old Jack Patterson set to sign for us from the Crusaders
Yeah this was signposted back in January , just waiting for the July intake.

That was an affect of Brexit, re bringing in u18s , I’m sure some clubs will find a way around it. Apparently the RS are the ones trying to bring in Nwaneri. I believe he’s playing up at U16 and not actually 16 until next year . He’s quite a prospect.

I mean what change have we got if even The Arsenal can't keep hold of their kids

Yeah Spurs too. After reading one of your previous posts , i cynically thought “ Well the answer is to become one of the clubs doing the gutting , not sitting on the sidelines watching “

You would hope that there is a middle way, be more proactive as a buying club and do it with integrit.

If likes of city are hoovering up all the young talent it stands to reason there should be plenty of them available at around 18/19 that we should be interested in

That does sound sensible but we’d have to pay for them . City have just sold 18 year old promising midfielder Darko Gyabi to Leeds for £5mill, they got him from Millwall a few years ago . Our past policy doesn’t seem to include paying out largeish sums of money for teenagers who haven’t made first team appearances, but as you say there are/ will be players available. If we scout them properly, they fit our playing style and we are prepared to pay the money they could prove bargains.

He only cost £5m as he was part of the Phillips deal.
