Everton Youth Teams Thread

Apparently (according to the Echo) we are waiting on answers from Ryan Astley, Halid Djankpata, Isaac Heath, Edward Jones and Jack Tierney on contracts.

Be a shame if Djankpata signs elsewhere - thought he had a few good games last season.

No, he’s no where near that level at all.

…I disagree, I think he’s already superior but it’s not a very high bar. I tipped him to make the 1st team this season, I was wrong but it’s been a difficult time. He has to be thereabouts if he signs because there’s little ahead of him.

ISS looks like he just does enough. You wouldn’t watch and think he’s incredible but I think he finds the game easy. He’ll lack for the possessional skills of a Baines, that will come with experience but he’s capable of knocking lovely weighted passes down the line.

I disagree, I’ve know Ishe for a long time and as much as I’d love him to be close to being in the first team, he’s not, it’s a huge step.

He‘s not even a natural left back, he’s playing there cause he’s playing above his own age group and he’s less exposed. Long term, if he grows physically, he’s a left sided centre half and if not he’s a lower league player.

I think this lad and Apter are the ones to look out for. ISS as well if he stays but doesn't look likely.
Matty Apter is an excellent player who continually keeps improving. He’s the best scouse player in this city in his age group. Very athletic, leggy, quick and lots of quality on the ball as well, he is in my opinion our best prospect in this years u18’s group alongside ISS.

The fact he doesn't wow at 21s and lacks possesion skills at that level means he's not even close to being ready. I don't think I've ever came away from a 21s game thinking hes the best player on the pitch. That's not me calling him crap that's just accepting a then 16 year old isn't near the first team.

I’ve always considered Jenson Metcalfe as a better prospect then Barker , a full preseason and I think he’ll kick on again after his injury.

Apter has been the pick of the young midfielders, him and Callum Bates looked good when played together , Jack Patterson too early on but he didn’t seem to kick on as much as the the other two during the season. A few loans in the u21s will open up a crowded midfield for them, and that‘ll be the criteria to judge them by , playing regular u21s as u18s.

Reese Welsh looks to be heading out on loan, MK Dons apparently favorite to sign him.

Will that leave us a bit light at CB in the 21’s? Eli Campbell will be the senior CB with Tierney and Jones just moving up from the under 18’s.

When will Everton announce the next set of scholars to go into the u18s for the new season ?
I posted this the other day , from the official site but not an official announcement:

“So 9 new Scholars have been included so far.

All seem familiar names in respect of featuring in our u18 squads last season, not all started or got game minutes though..I seem to remember Harrison Armstrong starting, maybe Pickford too , with Morgan featuring regularly . Nobody stands out as we’ve had in previous years when we had the likes of Barker ,Metcalfe, ISS .

George Pickford GK

Defenders: Aled Thomas, George Finney, Luca Davies, Joshua van Schoor.

Midfield : Harrison Armstrong, Harvey Foster,

Forwards: Joel Catesby , George Morgan.”
