Everton Youth Teams Thread

Adam Davies: Left Everton without making the grade, struggled to make it at Sheffield Wednesday also, got a move to Barnsley in 2014 were he has made 27 appearances so far

Tyias Browning: Had a loan spell at Wigan which didn’t go great, but is now a regular in the 1st team squad, getting regular appearances and is one of our many young defenders with potential

Luke Garbutt: Loan spells at Cheltenham & Colchester then returning to the first team squad, looked promising when used in the first team and cemented his place in the England under 21 team last season, currently out on loan at Fulham, still has Leighton Baines in his way to get a first team place

Jake Bidwell: Bidwell’s only Everton appearance came in the europa league game vrs. BATE Borisov. He left Everton after a loan spell at Brentford for first team football (he also had Garbutt in his way). Has excelled at Brentford and is current club captain. Could easily make the step up to premier league football

Eric Dier: Was on loan from Sporting Lisbon then returned due to lack of first team opportunities, signed for Spurs in 2014, has recently moved into a central midfield role and has impressed. Named in the recent England squad – for people who say we missed out on him, his replacement was John Stones

Jordan Barrow: A spell at Stalybridge Celtic after getting released by the blues, now plying his trade in the welsh premier league with Airbus

Conor McAleny: Must be about 32 by now, some bad injuries have halted Conor’s development at Everton since making a bright if not unspectacular debut vs. Arsenal in 2012. Failed loan spells at Scunthorpe, Brentford, Cardiff & Charlton have not pushed him on and is likely to be moved on in January or the summer, has made 23 career appearances at the age of 23

If we got 3 premier league players from every promising age group it would be a fantastic return. It seems sort of sad that some of them haven't made it but you can't expect 11 first team players from a single year group.

I am talking more about the players that have disappeared, not nice at all.

Happens with every youth team to be honest. Probably the biggest disappointment is Gerard Kinsella who im not even sure if he is still in football at the moment.
Apart from the 2 league of wales lads the rest will be making a living off of football and doing well for themselves, obviously not to the standard of a premier league footballer but in the whole perspective of things

Interesting to see the one's who fared best are the one's that stayed and developed with Everton. Should post this in the current academy and let them see what happens if you jump ship too early dreaming of first team football when you aren't established at your own team first.

I read somewhere the other day that Dier was always going back as decreed by Sporting Lisbon. Our failure was probably not keeping a better watch on his future availability, but heh you can't win them all.
In addition to winning in 2014, we were second 2015. , a whisker from winning it, and currently top of our Section so it looks promising for the future. But this thread is a great reminder of how big the gap is between excelling at 18 and playing at PL level.
