Everton Youth Teams Thread

So lads if we do get taken over what do ye reckon will happen our academy?i really hope we dont go down the route of buying in players from all over the world and that we stick with what we are doing now and that is supporting and developing young local talent.
If we have more money to spend will make it even harder for young lads to break through?

......I think the academy was one of the attractions for the new buyer.

Id like to hazard a guess it will be a bit of both - we will probably have more finance available for youth recruitment while still having a heavy focus on local talent.

Mixing in some of Europes good youth talent in with our local lads can only be a good thing, so long as it doesn't tip the scales the other way. I would love to be in for some of the worlds best youth players to mix it up with our academy

Ya exactly.really hope it doesnt tip the balance.we have shown we more than hold our own and go beyond that with local talent when we are up against the citys, utds and rs of this world who bring in heavily from around the world.

Defo - think that would be my preference i wouldn't want to harm our local recruitment, but i would like to see us going after some of the best youth players around to complement what we do already. Said that for a while.

That letter to the Arsenal board that he cosigned with Usmanov mentioned how they wanted to buy players that could go straight into the first team to complement the longstanding tradition the club had of bringing their own players through from the academy. I actually think Moshiri will invest in the academy, probably starting with buying it outright and then building the accommodation that Martinez was talking about ages ago.

The obvious difference next season if the investment is made in players will be expectations, the pressure on Martinez to get a trophy / top four place will be enormous . The chances of throwing in a youngster or two will be diminished , not just by incoming players but by the need for results. Having said that , City, Utd and Liverpool have all pitched in more youngsters in recent weeks than we have done.
Like you I hope our academy remains focused on local talent, and we can keep that aspect, EiTC etc . But for me the Academy is an entity in itself and I enjoy the matches we see all too rarely, results, progress , etc on their own . On the other hand, many pop in here solely to see if there's anybody waiting to break through to the 1st team, each to their own. I think in the long run anything that enables the club to be better off financially , better run etc will also filter down to a better Academy.
