Everton Youth Teams Thread

i don't even think he should be in that capacity in all honesty. i don't really see much attributes that would have him as a good coach.

apparently he is really good around the young players and they all look up to him. would have no problem him being u21 assistant manager or something like that. not sure if hes done his badges or anything, they probably all do nowadays though.

Without Martinez bashing: how close do youth watchers think Dowell is to breaking into senior squad. Seems awesome with kind of snide and swagger to shine in derby (or get himself sent off).

If he was playing under Klopp he'd be getting the odd game already. He's not the strongest but he's got great touch and seems to always be thinking a step or two ahead of everyone else, seeing things early.

The last time I saw Hibbert's name was when he played RB for the u21s against Porto back in November, the night Connolly scored a cracker with his right foot from left back. So that's probably 45 mins real match time in 4 months . A great club servant........ but his time has gone.
When Martinez plays Hibbert on Wednesday night instead of giving Connolly a game that will tell you all you need to know about Martinez giving young footballers a chance.

....whilst I'm now supporting the inevitable with RM, I don't see Klopp playing 18 year olds in key games. Whilst we have some potentially good youngsters it is a massive step up and RM did blood 2 debutants on Saturday.

Dowell looks a bit special, fine size, good mover, quality with the football and a wand of a left foot. I like the fact that Walsh is a stand out performer week in week out in the lower division, it indicates he can step up. If they're good enough they will come through but that's a big 'if'.

Sends out the wrong message to the young blues as well.should be if your training hard enough, your attitude is good and your making a name for yourself then you will get ur chance not do all of the above but only if we have 20 injuries i might consider you.

Aye proper shame, think Connolly should have been given the chance, Hibbert has had his time - he will be destroyed in the derby and it'll be horrific to watch because he has been a great servant.

I am still sore about Dowell not getting a chance to be honest with resting Barkley. Should have been given an opportunity with the things he has been doing, confident and ability in abundance.

Agree, while it wasn't a key game at the weekend didn't Klopp start with 4 or 5 from the academy? I think we could have put Dowell in as well at the weekend at least - instead we brought back people who are likely to not even be with the club come the summer. I was very disappointed, not in the young lads they where a bright spark - but the fact others weren't involved.
