Everton Youth Teams Thread

to be fair to him england were completely rubbish. anytime he was in space he was never given the ball. the commentators were saying what a good game the right back was having but he'd rather go on a run and lose the ball than pass it dowell.
i do agree he should be demanding the ball more though if he wants to have any hope of playing for the first team.

Dowell seemed to be playing out of position on the right.....surely more suited to left but ideally number 10. But it's hard to play 10 in a team fighting at the top of the Premier League.
A well-chosen loan could do him the world of good, maybe even abroad.

Calvert-Lewin looks very good.
And has just scored right on cue.

No idea if these matches are televised, but Everton target Sander Berge will be in the Norwegian U21 squad against England on Tuesday. He played the full 90 in their previous match.

I wouldn't be surprised if the club went back in for him in January, as the Norwegian season will be over then.

its on BT, holgate and galloway both play hopefully.

Must admit I switched to the Vuelta cycling at half time then went back to fast forward my recording and slowed down when our boy came on. Nice little cameo from him and a goal. Armstrong is likely to retain the striker role for England but he's proved he's a good back up . And for us he'll provide much needed direct competition for Duffus and Dyson at u23 level . As we've chosen not to loan him straight out but to bring him to FF to develop him I hope there's someone there who can do that. Unsy has proven to be excellent at developing our defenders and mid fielders maybe someone like Big Dunc is needed to add an extra dimension to our young strikers.

More games for the u23s this season, I wonder how this will affect loans out in January. Given the performance against Bolton , there's a good argument that our lads could hold there own in League1/ League2 this season. So the games are there , the question is will they be competitive enough to allow development and to show who is kicking on and who needs to be released.

Everton Under-23s will take part in the revamped Premier League Cup for the 2016/17 season.

The young Blues have been paired alongside Norwich City, Wolverhampton Wanderers and either Portsmouth or Barnsley in the newly-added group stage.

David Unsworth’s side will face each side home and away, commencing with a trip to Wolves. Fixture dates and details will be confirmed in due course.

In all, 32 clubs will compete across eight groups, with the top two sides from each advancing to the knockout phase.

The last-16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final will all be one-off ties, with extra time and penalties if teams cannot be separated after 90 minutes.

Under-23 sides are able to field three overage outfield players and one goalkeeper in a squad.

.....from what I've seen he is worth a 2nd look at. He's very tall but in the Martin Dobson type of mould, looks like he can pick a pass. I would've been happy had we acquired him but if we were interested it didn't make sense to leave things until the final day.

I wonder how this leaves defending our Liverpool and Lancashire senior cup titles.

It's a very large squad Unsy has so I suppose there's no reason why we can't.

Also, a lot of our under 18s squad that moved up this year are struggling for game time at the moment. Most, if not all of these will still qualify for the F A youth cup this season. Do you think there's a chance we might do this to give the lads some more playing time, rather than play the current under 18s group. This is a very prestigious competition and our 18 year olds would stand every chance of winning it such is their quality. Plus it's all about getting that winning mentality.
