Same criteria as League mate , 1st September birthday , so essentially our 1st and 2nd year Scholars . I think today's starting lineup is likely our best.are the likes of broadhead and brewster eligible for the youth cup team? i think the age range might be different for the league and cup but not sure.
This bit caught my eye about his time at Yeovil "“Those lads down there just love football but you get people these days who play football for the money but these lads don’t get the wages to go and buy big cars, they’ve got mortgages and kids to pay for and so every game you’re going into, three points is vital, and that is all they strive for each day.”Seems - like a lot of them - a very grounded young lad:

Liam Walsh has got a great attitude, if he gets a chance at Everton I think he's going to be a top player. This bit caught my eye about his time at Yeovil "“Those lads down there just love football but you get people these days who play football for the money but these lads don’t get the wages to go and buy big cars, they’ve got mortgages and kids to pay for and so every game you’re going into, three points is vital, and that is all they strive for each day.”
Last month I saw a brief article on our 18 year old defender Jack Bainbridge picking up his new Mercedes, with the byline from the car company of "thank you for your repeat business Jack". I don't begrudge them the salary they get if they've got the talent, but it does make you wonder when an 18 year old who can't get into our reserves squad is on his second Merc.
He's not keen on young untried players full stop! I hate to do it but here is what Klopp said in The Guardian “I don’t need 20 options. I just need the right options. If I brought in more players of the same quality they would not get enough games, so it is better to select a young player if you are able. We have some young boys that look good; there are lots of things we can change...”...but he could do that by promoting some of the current crop. I might be entirely wrong but perhaps he's not particularly keen on them.

The contrast between his attitude and Klopp's couldn't be greater. It's bleeding depressing.
Some managers are more progressive and less risk averse when it comes to playing untried young players, I think it's as simple as that....it's odd, though, that we have been linked with quite a few young, relatively unknown but highly rated young players. If the links are true, it must be a strategy to bring promising talent in. If it is a strategy, I would think RK and SW are driving it.
You might be right, he might not want to blood young players but I always think if their really good the manager will have to play them.

have you read that article eggs with Walsh. I know you've been a big fan of his for a long time and he seems a really grounded person. He was certainly the standout player against the Saints on Monday wasn't he.
...he was, Matey, and I like the lad lots but it's possible that RK and SW are not so keen. They are building a side and maybe they don't think any of the U23s fit into it. I could be wrong, I'm just trying to understand why none are getting a chance at a time when the first team are performing poorly.
