Everton comment: Moshiri will be smarting from deadline day insanity but can ensure Blues learn from the madness
Phil Kirkbride on why Everton majority investor can use painful end to window as useful learning curve

Everton major investor Farhad Moshiri
Farhad Moshiri supposedly said he was finding the transfer window “insane”.

Quite what he made of his first deadline day experience then, who knows.

But you could understand if it his feelings were not for public airing because Everton'smajority investor is sure to have been left smarting after a frustrating last 24 hours of the summer window.

Moshiri had overseen some excellent, shrewd and robust business during the relative serenity of the last few weeks, backing his manager in the market but revealing that he remained “anxious” to make more.

His ambitions and intentions were clear but in the trenches of deadline day negotiations he and club often found themselves fighting a losing battle.

For weary Evertonians, conditioned to the type of disappointment that only the closing stages of the window can bring, it was an all too familiar tale but for Moshiri, a billionaire businessman, this feeling will be new.

It is one he will not want to suffer ever again and so it is certain to only stiffen and strengthen his resolve for January, and for this time next year.

Everton could well feel used over Sissoko saga
The Blues have financial muscle these days but in the rough and tumble of deadline day, they weren't able to flex it, instead being elbowed out of deals.

And in the case of their failed attempt to land Moussa Sissoko, nobody at Goodison will be oblivious to the idea that they were used in order to bring Spurs to the table.

The notion that Everton have been played off against other clubs this summer is nothing new but for it to happen at such a late stage, and with everything set up for Sissoko to complete his £30m move, will have no doubt have jarred strongly with Moshiri.

It is sure to make him a more canny and savvy operator when push comes to shove in the winter window.

Because Everton must lick their wounds and find sanity in what can be a crazy place.

I don't know who was responsible for getting deals across the line, but when it became blatantly and massively apparent we could not, someone else SHOULD have stepped in.

I have said since takeover rumours even began the first thing the new owner absolutely NEEDED to do was to sack that useless sack of a tanning bed Elstone. If the murmurs are true and he was the one who was awful at all things transfers, he needs to be sacked with immediate effect.

I'm pretty sure in years to come we will look back and chuckle ...
" can you remember that season when we thought we would get mourinho , keep our young hot prospects , have a £100 million war chest for transfers and get a new stadium at the docks? that was the season oumar niasse broke Dixie deans goal scoring record !....... and pigs evolved overnight and grew wings "

Good article, hope Moshiri has these thoughts and the team can improve and be a team players aspire to come to. Really I just want us to go out and smack around these teams and players that turned us down. I want Lukaku to utterly destroy Stones and make him look foolish. I want Lucas to be stifled by Williams and I want Sissoko to fear moving through our midfield on account of getting wrecked by Gueye! COYB!

Deals never got done to us being tight imo
Nah I think we just had less to offer overall, spurs had cl on offer for sissoko, juve had the same for wistel. Before people drag out the "but but but Chelsea don't have Europe this season and look who they can sign" line you need to remember Chelsea won the league 2 years ago and have been in the CL consistently until last year. We haven't won anything since 1995. All we have to offer atm is cash(as seen by us offering 7m more for witsel than Juve) and history. We need to secure some kind of European football to get the level of targets we fancy

If we were skint or tight then we wouldn't have rolled out the red carpet for Sissoko in terms of having a plane ready and waiting to go.

We simply haven't been able to sell players on the plan and that's fair enough, majority of them are just here and now.

If we were able to offer European Football then, in my opinion, deals would have been done and we'd have signed that next tier of player - the witsels and carvalhos of the world. But we can't, and that's a temporary thing we're hoping Koeman can fix.

But didn't deals for Brahimi and Gabbiadini break down due to us not meeting asking price? Or have i made that up..

I thought they broke down because one, we didn't want to pay the 50% to the third party of Brahimi, rightly so may I add, and two, Napoli who are notoriously hard to deal with decided they couldn't get a replacement and were unwilling to sell.

I don't know tbh. Im just frustrated and people might not agree but you need to pay over the odds sometimes in fees and wages to get what you want.

Brahimi would have ended up costing close to 50 million before you discuss wages and signing on fees. It's a case of saving the money instead of spending for spending sake.

Thankfully, with him and Sissoko, we've saved money instead of wasting huge amounts on utter dung.

But what about Mata? We should of just overpaid for him on transfer fee and wages as hes proven in the premier league. Its really done my head in
