The transfer strategy to target relative galacticos was wrong and illconceived.

Those players were never going to be attracted to a northern mid table club on wages alone.

The execution of that strategy was incompetant beyond belief. For example if @The Esk is correct that we agreed a fee and terms for Witsel and then agreed that he would have a medical and sign after his holiday is ridiculous beyond belief and should be contrasted with Chelsea who did the same with Batshuyi and then arranged for him to leave the Belgium camp ( incidently the same country as Witsel ) to complete the deal.

The number of deals that we let slip through our fingers and the state of negotiations with players and clubs is truly incredible.

WE then showed a significant lack of flexibility and intransigence in not selecting / moving onto other targets when deals like Gabbiadini proved difficult.

The lack of speed with with we failed to progress matters is a disgace.

Contrast that with properly run clubs like United , West Ham and dare I say it Liverpool who got their business done early.

Those responsible must be sacked.

Clearly I am not inside the club but based on empirical evidence this must be Kenwright ( O'Connor yesterday said "he has been working dilgently to get deals done " - despite @The Esk saying he was marginalised ) ,the Russian guy appointed by Moshiri to be in charge of transfers (CBA looking up his name ) and the CEO Elstone ( ludicrously appointed to the board despite years of underacievement at Goodison ).

Walsh just about gets away with it due to his late appointment.

Moshiri has turned this club into a laughing stock he must now become fully involved , take decisive action and explain his vision for the club to the fans as a first step.

All the 'deals' mentioned have been taken off forums as far as I can make out. People itk or not post all sorts of names and all of a sudden it's 'fact' that we have bid for this or that.
Media outlets do the same with no basis for truth and the same forum users re-hash this drivel.

The vast majority of these 'so called' failed bids never existed in the first place and you want heads to roll for something that never happened?

It's a shame idiots have access to technology.

If these 'bids' never happened that's almost as bad as trying and failing tbh.

My "knowledge" is based almost entirely upon the wisdom of @The Esk

Brahimi raging at Porto this morning for sabotaging his move to us. These weren't phantom bids.

However, Moshiri has to learn three key lessons for me from all this:

1. Push hard early to address your biggest weakness
2. Don't go into TDD with more than 'nice to have' needs
3. Get Bill & Elstone out of the mix

An agent mate tells me Bill persisted in his drip-by-drip negotiating tactics despite our increased resources and this prolonged even the deals we completed. Elstone allegedly dropped the ball with the contractual/legal background checks on Brahimi failing to spot the third party ownership issue & impact on fee until TDD eve.

Harsh lessons need to be learned but we still did some decent business. Glass just about half full.

Very informative post - thanks

He needs to turn things around over the next few months; get rid of the old guard and bring in shrewd negotiators. Outline to the fans what his plans for the future are. Site for the new stadium should be finalised and work started in the next few months.
I won't be holding my breath though.

Great words fella.

I'm so so happy to have an even smaller squad than last years injury prone one.

lol Loads on here were demanding we got the likes of Hibbert and Osman off the wage bill and now they're bemoaning the fact.

According to this we've brought in 5 players to strengthen the first team in the short term (albeit with Valencia only on loan). We've then got rid of or sold 5 players that were part of the first team, with a few more going out on loan. However we've replaced the ageing players Osman, Hibbert, Pienaar and Howard with Gueye, Bolasie, Valencia and Stekelenburg whilst replacing the inconsistent Stones for the experienced Williams.

So are you genuinely trying to say that losing the likes of Stanek, Mattioni and Ledson has made our squad weaker?

number 2 in a nutshell is why this transfer window has been an absolute shambles. It is naive to think that with 12 hours to go, glaring weaknesses had still not been addressed and we are hoping they can be sorted by signing quality at that amount of short notice.

If Moshiri gets crapness from the fans then that's his own fault for putting his trust in people who obviously couldn't finalise a McDonald's order in a drive thru let alone getting transfers over the line.

I think it's just a coincidence imo that we only started spending money once Stones was sold but it just opened us up to all kinds of criticism when we should have been making a statement of intent.

really piss poor effort all around as far as I'm concerned

We strengthened the squad... but we did so under Moyes as well. Sell your best players and buy 3 players from money received that will improve you overall. Nothing new there. Problem is we are still a sell to buy club. Funny enough we got Valencia in as well after we freed money from McGeady loan deal...nothing has changed.

Nice to see Farhad and Bill still have plenty of favourable writers at the echo who they can manipulate to write propaganda for the club Joseph Goebbels would have been proud of.

Oh have they gone back to them now have they?

What are they saying? It will send my rage off the scale if I have to read any
