But what about Mata? We should of just overpaid for him on transfer fee and wages as hes proven in the premier league. Its really done my head in

For me Mata has always been the weirdest link. I don't see how he fits into Koeman's plans. I do not see him as a player who'd be willing to running his socks off to fit a pressing style. Always thought this was a bad fit.

pre-Moshiri, Everton were never in a position to bid for players who would then potentially turn us down
Now, we're able to bid in those markets, but until we can prove we're able to offer trophies and/or European football, we're going to get knocked back by higher profile players.

Time for a reality check on our external standing with other players/teams. Hopefully a good year under Koeman with the good squad we have will help turn things around.

Our final league positions in the past two years have been toxic in terms of attracting players.

I for one am happy that we have not spent ridiculous money on at best 2nd or 3rd rate players with mouthy agents.

Now we continue the Project, which should aim to have us top 6 by Christmas - then let's take stock.

The transfer strategy to target relative galacticos was wrong and illconceived.

Those players were never going to be attracted to a northern mid table club on wages alone.

The execution of that strategy was incompetant beyond belief. For example if @The Esk is correct that we agreed a fee and terms for Witsel and then agreed that he would have a medical and sign after his holiday is ridiculous beyond belief and should be contrasted with Chelsea who did the same with Batshuyi and then arranged for him to leave the Belgium camp ( incidently the same country as Witsel ) to complete the deal.

The number of deals that we let slip through our fingers and the state of negotiations with players and clubs is truly incredible.

WE then showed a significant lack of flexibility and intransigence in not selecting / moving onto other targets when deals like Gabbiadini proved difficult.

The lack of speed with with we failed to progress matters is a disgace.

Contrast that with properly run clubs like United , West Ham and dare I say it Liverpool who got their business done early.

Those responsible must be sacked.

Clearly I am not inside the club but based on empirical evidence this must be Kenwright ( O'Connor yesterday said "he has been working dilgently to get deals done " - despite @The Esk saying he was marginalised ) ,the Russian guy appointed by Moshiri to be in charge of transfers (CBA looking up his name ) and the CEO Elstone ( ludicrously appointed to the board despite years of underacievement at Goodison ).

Walsh just about gets away with it due to his late appointment.

Moshiri has turned this club into a laughing stock he must now become fully involved , take decisive action and explain his vision for the club to the fans as a first step.

We've been well and truly had off here.

By who exactly?

So this window, with new management team, we have brought in 7-8 players including 'ones for the future'.

I expect if we had done nothing at all and then signed 7 players on the final day you would be wetting yourself with joy!

Get a grip and stop thinking everything can be sorted in one window.

Thank god that crap is over till January.
