Squad investment was promised...not only didn't we get it, the club raked in £3M on the window.
We have a billionaire on the board...and are still using loan facilities with tuppence ha'penny Isle of Man financial vehicles.
Talk of a land deal for a stadium...not a dickie bird to suggest we're one inch further forward on the matter.

Evertonians are whingers and whiners generally. We somehow expected to leap from the trenches and announce we were back with the big boys by splashing the dosh like a dealer on a sunday in a carvery. We didn't, so to find comfort we build the most likely scenario as to why we didn't, messengers are rounded up and summarily shot, the press are held up as arbiters and paragons of truth and those in charge are re-arranged mentally with pitchforks, flaming torches and Frankenstein's castle ablaze in the hills.

We're comfortable now. Cosy. We recognise these surroundings, they're familiar and bring calm.

That's because we didn't do 'bad' we have strengthened the first xi in 4 positions believe it or not, Spurs, for example, haven't strengthened their strongest xi. We have, that's why the bed wetter shouts are coming we are 4th with Sunderland and Boro to come, having made our best start since 06/07.

All about opinions I guess, for me we have pretty much replaced like for like, I'd say we are roughly where we were, maybe slightly better - minus a quality footballing defender but adding a decent midfielder.

Don't get me wrong, I like some of our signings, and I think Williams will do well, but I think Stones was criminally under rated on here
I think Mirallas is better than Bolasie as well
Lewis and Valencia I don't know much about tbh.

Can't see 4 improvements, and considering our finances, the expectation, the simple fact we had money to spend, I would still say that being slightly ahead is still a bad window.
