Don't you think it would be harder to attract top quality players to a bottom half side rather than a top 6 side?

Chelsea finished one place above us. It didn't bother them.

I think league position is down the list of priorities for players. We see that with players going to the MLS and China.

We had the entire summer to fill positions worth a supposed 120K per week. It's hardly an impossible task, assuming our 'interest' was serious and we had the money. Things moved pretty quickly after we sold Stones and pretty slowly again after we spent that windfall. The outgoing salaries are ballpark to the incoming.

Blackburn rovers signed players based on ambition and put up the funds or Jack Walker did. league position is just an excuse. Players were using us all along to get better deals at their present or other clubs. Its a shame we couldnt identify the game players sooner and sign viable players. A few hard lessons need to be learned

Again ( good post ) but to me it shows jack all has happened other than Koeman being brought it my moshri.

Exactly.
I think it's fair to call it as it happened, for example, if we're loaded then why go to the bargain bucket for a goalkeeper? It doesn't make sense.
Why wouldn't Porto sell an out of favour winger for £40M? If that was a serious story he'd be here.

Because Elstone found out at the last hour that he had a third party involved that wanted 50% of the deal.

Personally I'd be prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt in the short term. The last few months looks like a massive over reaction to his arrival here (one he's been milking, like). He's a billionaire in a league where billionaires are thick on the ground.

The stadium needs real progress to make this feller's ownership seem worthwhile - REAL progress though...Peel, LCC all on board and a formal development plan in place. I'd expect that before the next transfer window opens in January. If there's no progress to that degree by then, and we see another parsimonious window, then this feller will stand stark bollock naked as a fake.
