That summer was a disaster.
Koeman didnt come in until midway through, he cant go and get players in without knowing what a manager wants.
Things wont change overnight.
I'd like to see at least a bit of progress. A negative net spend, sell to buy and our owner making a clown of himself in the media felt very samey.Koeman didnt come in until midway through, he cant go and get players in without knowing what a manager wants.

According to transfermarkt we paid out £46.07m and got back £47.26m. Now I think I understand that in this thread we want to bash Moshiri so have to ignore the fact that we had to give Barnsley 15% or circa £7m, but can somebody point me to the threads in which we acknowledge that more money went out than came in.
OK, then we have to also talk about the increase in TV revenue. At the end of the day, hopefully we can all agree that not a great deal of wedge was spent/recouped. Standard Ebepton fare.According to transfermarkt we paid out £46.07m and got back £47.26m. People again failing to take into account the massive increase in TV money.
We'd have been able to afford Sissoko and hire Koeman and Walsh regardless of how rich the owner is.

I'm not wanting Moshiri to be just throwing cash around on dross but I reckon he could have given it a better go than making a 3m profit and signing Enner Valencia on loan on deadline day.I think you are expecting far too much.
We still need to be a well run club who has to take into account if players will fit in, how much these players want per week to sign for us etc.
Yeah we could go out and just spend loads of money, this effects the players we already have at the club as they will want parity pay wise. It all adds up.
And more importantly, its one summer. Getting a new manager in was the most important thing and we did that. You cant expect massive changes straight away, it takes time and planning.
We are not RICH rich by the way. We still have to be careful, we just wont be scraping the bottom of the barrel now. Just throwing money at it is a dangerous game for a club like us.
Under Kenwright we were consistently in the top 6/7. That didn't make him infallible.modern football, where "progress" on the net spend table rates higher than progress on the league table.
barely mate replaced a failing manager with a good ambitious one, signed up steve walsh which is a coup none of which would off if kenwright was in charge, we owe no debt, signed some really good players, are team is playing a lot better first summer not too bad next summer will be the one to judge! That summer was a disaster.
And now we get to the nub of the whole net spend argument. Does it matter whether the money comes from selling warm Chang or Stones ( sure that used to be a bitter). In the end it should be total money in less total money out irrespective of source and for me that should always be a negative spend for the company. Now if FM decides he wants to part with his personal fortune (stop laughing at the back) then that's a different matter.OK, then we have to also talk about the increase in TV revenue.
