That's very naive.

You know how this club works. We're a club that are so flush and have such a big financial backer that he's gone cap in hand to a council that's cut half a billion from its budget in the last 7 years to set up a financial vehicle in order to secure loans...which will be paid up in 40 years time + interest.

How on earth some people give this Moshiri an ounce of credibility when we all know he'll spend on this club as much as Kenwright did I have no idea.

He's currently spending money that will be clawed back in a few weeks time and getting the image boost by front loading the incomings.

For example...

I think it's very clear that Walsh and Koeman have been doing their homework through the season to make this sort of activity so early in the window possible.

Re other interest, Man Utd were interested in Keane, Arsenal were interested in Pickford, Athletico were dead certs for Sandro before their transfer ban.

You're trying to find negatives that aren't there.
If any CL team were interested in any of those players they'd have ended up there.

We over paid for a couple of them and got them.

If we "over-paid", it was to fend off competition from CL teams. Ultimately, we're paying the price needed to secure the players in a transfer market which has very little value in it.

By your logic, we'll never get any player that a CL club is interested in. It doesn't work like that Dave, there are plenty of other factors at play - transfer fees, wages, agents, relationships, opportunity for first team football, etc.

Breathtaking irony!!! That will NEVER be topped lollol

By your ramblings it's clear that you will only be satisfied if some gilt-edged sugar daddy comes into the club and unloads his piggy bank into our coffers without a thought of anything in return but the adoring love of the fans. That is the biggest recipe for disaster that could ever be imagined for the long term stability of the club. [See Venkys, that plonker at Leeds, etc...]

Moshiri has used his status, credibility, business acumen - and yes his wealth too - to start to build a business model that allows the club to stand on its own two feet for years to come, by facilitating AFFORDABLE deals to build a stadium. He is also facilitating our best ever investment in players by a long shot, with a view to making the financing of this sustainable (by buying potential), and he has invested in new management and directors who share his vision of sustained growth and development.

If you can't see that, then you must be more naive than Naive Neive the naivemeister from Naiveland.

That's true, but if you;re good enough for one of those teams you'll get the wages and you'll accept that you have to seize your chance when you get it. That's the way the majority of players will think.

Easily said, harder to justify.

@davek since I've been posting on GOT ive agreed with probably the majority of your positions but don't align to your net spend issue.

So in that context I'm giving it one more go but from a different persective: what would be a successful transfer season to you?

I get that you believe we will bank £150m from sales and as such we again have a minimal net spend showing its same old same old. You could argue that.

Is it as simple as us needing to spend £250m to date or at least by the end of the window? Is it about the quality of players?
Again I don't think any of the top 6 envy any of our purchases and agree with you if they wanted them I'm sure they would not be with us. It is what it is.
So what for you would be a true indicator that things have changed?
